Okay guys, I have been searching like crazy on this site and not finding exactly what I'm after.

I'm putting together a standard dash on a 1971 Demon. I've got the dash on a stand and I'm starting the wiring and I do not see a bulb available for the non A/C heater controls. Seems crazy to me that there wouldn't be some sort of backlight for them. Some posts on this site suggest there's a socket just to the right of DEF but that may only be on 73 and newer.

I'm starting to wonder if there was a bulb that maybe just clipped on to the metal frame?

No back light. That bezel face is basically the same as 67.

There are only 3 controls, the top is either left right or center.

The bottom is either left or anywhere between full right depending on the temp you want.

And the fan switch has only gas so many positions.

You should be able to adjust it by feel alone.

Now that's not to say you couldn't cut out the letters, add a rear bezel and some back light? That would be kind of slick and unique for the year.

similar rear frame used for airtemp control. they had a light that bolted on in a holder, powerd off the dash lights or column shifter quadrant feed it hada press fit blue cap and illuminated the buttons which where metal cased clear plastic with etched words. the light shone on the plastic and was reflected by foil coated card forward down the plastic strips to the front of the button. like very poor optical fibre or light guide

not very good
