Hi,I have a 68 Dart 270 that was missing its radio. can anyone here tell me and show me what mounting brackets I would need to install the radio and where they would go,both on the radio and dash? It appears there are two large screws that mount it to the front sheet metal "dimples" in the dash, but am not sure what else is needed to secure it as it was from the factory. Thanks

I thought there was a hanger in the back as well, but it's been so long I don't remember. Hopefully someone will chime in.

On the drivers side, bottom rear of the radio, mine has a bracket.

It also looks like mine is installed incorrectly. It looks like theres a stud on the lower rail of the dash frame, and there might be a nut on the forward side of that.
Ima gonna need to look into that

Thanks,I appreciate the input. Hope to be able to install mine soon. I don't have that bracket.

By the way,I remember the old "Roger Ramjet" cartoons produced by Fred Crippen in the 1960's. (I'm assuming your name is a play on the title character). I think they were animated by Gamma the same folks who did Jay Wards "Rocky and Bullwinkle". Gary Owens voiced Roger Ramjet. It was another of those cartoons that was made on a shoestring budget and was geared more toward adults than kids. I remember one episode where it ended with him leaving town rather than facing the bad guy. Guess he must have run out of proton energy pills.

Roger goes to the dentist.

Roger hires a housekeeper.

Me & a buddy skipped school on a snowy day and we were bombing around in my car. We were in the next town over and I came around a corner in second and started a good sideways slide -steering into it and realized we were in a school zone.
The crossing guard came over and started yelling and told me he didn’t want any of that Roger Ramjet **** around here. My buddy started cracking up and said no no, this is Roger Ram ROD, emphasizing my name.
To this day, he still calls me some variation of that. Ram Jet, Ram Rod, Ridge Rammer, Rip Hammer -Whatever rolls off the tongue at that moment

Roger Ram Rod has it right. His just needs to be fastened to the dash frame.
Here's a couple pictures that may be helpful.

You can track down a bracket or make something that does the same job.
There are at least three brackets for sale on Ebay now, or post a wanted ad on the forum and you might get one for a bit less.
They really help to support the back of the radio. Fastening the front of the radio through the dash openings isn't really enough to hold the radio securely.

HaHa..and now you know the rest of the story! So,did you quit it with your "Roger Ram Jet ****" and become a model suit and tie,law abiding sedan driving citizen after that cutting reprimand? Or did you embrace your new hero with wreckless enthusiasm? I also have to ask. What car were you driving back then?
One has to wonder if that crossing guard had ever seen an episode of Roger RamJet or if they had only heard the name and thought it meant something else.

Thanks to both of you for the the photos. I looked at my dash and can see a small hole where a screw apparent goes through the other end of the bracket that goes to the dash. Is it a screw or a bolt? Any chance you know what size if I find a bracket without the screw? My radio has nut under it still.

I used a sheet metal screw. It was pretty small, but I don't remember what size. If you have the under dash AC vents it'll be harder to get the screw in than if you don't. Without AC you can just reach under the dash with a screwdriver.

I have AC,but the vents are missing and so was the radio. The previous owner probably pulled the vents off to get the radio out. Still looking for the 1968 vents too with brown vent pad.

I posted a wanted ad for the bracket and mounting screw. I saw the links S'Cuder posted but unfortunately I guess someone else did too and someone bought the one on ebay that had the nut and screw. Some of the sellers on ebay sure are price gouging too. $10.00 in shipping for that tiny bracket? Greed. Anyway hopefully someone here will have one.
If anyone here has an original dash screw and can tell me what the original factory correct size was I can try and find one at the hardware store. Hopefully someone will have both pieces for sale.

I'll continue to let someone else provide more input for now, after work I need to pack & get truck ready, we are driving to Florida right after work tomorrow.

@1968 Dart 270 At the time I had a 1977 Granada. Decent working kid high school car, 2 door, Bucket seats, 4 speed, Probably good that it only had a straight 6, The Dukes were big at the time and a huge influence on my driving style, and we had a source for beer. Next cars- 73 Sebring 318, 76 Regal 350, 79 Sunbird V6 5spd, 73 Dart Sport \-6

Haven't seen a 77 Granada on the road in decades,or a Sunbird,or Sebring for that matter. Good thing you never tried to jump your car like the Dukes did. Those chargers didnt fare well in real life. I remember they used to have a tv commercial showing both the General Lee and Kitt from Knight Rider doing jumps back when both those shows were still on the air. Hard to believe that's 4 decades ago now. Anyway safe travels. Be sure to take some extra proton energy pills with you. Haha.

The Grenada and Sunbird both went airborne, as did my moms Capri. The buddy that hit me with the nickname had the record with his moms Datsun 310 though.
