Fuel Line Mod?

I had at some point seen, I believe, here a fuel line rerouting that would lessen heat effect from the engine. Could someone please link or explain it as I am unable to find it.
 
I believe you are talking about the Holley carbs that have one side of the bowls plugged off. If you remove the plugs and install a fuel block and aim it toward the rear of the vechicle. One side of the carb bowls is used for the fuel coming in .. the other side is returning to the tank. By using a electric fuel pump you leave it on after you shut the car off for awhile and it will recycle cold gas through the lines, carb, tank over and over.

Is this what may perhaps you are talking about?

Red circle is where you get most of the problems, and the yellow line is the new routing.( funny yellow box is where I have my filter) I hope 360scamp doesn't mind me posting a pic of his car..BACON!!!! :toothy10:

I did it on mine. Made sense considering where the fuel inlet is on the Edelbrock. I covered the line with a braided cover, put a piece of heater hose on it across the valve cover for better insulation, fuel filter is behind the alt.

I made it long enough so it won't get in the way when I want to adjust the valve lash.

Ok so I've looked at it and I cant see where I'll run into needing a 180° swivel fitting, lol that and every parts store in town is unable to find them in less then "a few weeks". Am I not seeing something or...what?
 
yeah, all I did was cut the 90* end off of a spare piece of fuel line I had kickin around the garage pointed it straight up out of the pump and the rest is history..
 
The gas filter goes behind the alternator (which blows air) for cooling.

If you race at a track. You may not be allowed to use more than a foot of flex rubber tube. So as Johnny Darts picture shows you may need to run Hard line up to the carb.

Dont really race at the track, but it is a hard line running to the carb. The black rubber hose is the pvc.
 
I've not had any issue running the fuel line in the stock location just on front of the head and right above the water pump using the stock clamp with the fuel filter in the stock location. The radiator fan blows directly on the fuel line and with a Holley single inlet style four barrel, the inlet is over on the driver's side away from all of the heat of the manifolds, so the fuel filter doesn't get heat soaked. Besides that, I'm pretty particular about anything running over the beautiful slant 6 valve cover. I cannot stand it. lol Too much rubber fuel hose in the system looks bad, plus as mentioned earlier, will get you teched right out of any NHRA mandated track, because the rule is no more than 12" total of rubber hose in the fuel system. Look what the factories did. They also used a minimum of rubber fuel hose. You didn't see Chrysler running two and three feet of rubber fuel hose everywhere looking bad, because it was also a safety issue. Gasoline (especially ethanol laced gasoline) attacks rubber fuel hose. It even eventually attacks the "good" ethanol friendly hose and it will crack and leak at the WORST possible time. Not to mention rubber fuel hose can much more easily be ripped and torn in the event of an accident. Then you have gas everywhere, ready to cause a fire. I prefer using as little rubber hose in the system as possible. Otherwise you could be asking for trouble.

Maybe for street cruising, if You keep an eye on the hose over the exhaust, better yet slip reflective fire sleeve over it. No matter how it looks, or You feel about it, that will get You bounced into the spectator bleachers at any track I've ever been to for at least the last 35 years.
