WIW what's it worth ? model 385 am fm radio 1967 valiant barracuda

How hard is it to test one of these old radios? Is it just two wires and and antenna, or is there more to it?

+12v, -12v, 2 speaker wires (usually 1 is -12v, too), antenna (or coat hanger).

And better if you're not in the basement, as reception stinks down there, especially without the ground plane of the car's body to help.

Realistically, most of these old radios jut need their electrolytic capacitors replaced, as they dry out / disintegrate / pop over time. That was all my AM radio needed.
But if anything is bad in the FM RF section, it will probably require realignment with an RF signal generator and an oscilloscope, which the average bear doesn't have.

But "not working" is very different than "working" in terms of value, especially because, even though most are a simple fix, some are very far from that, and you're buying "a pig in a poke."
