In 2023 I picked up a 67 Valiant 2 door, /6, 3 speed for $400. It was a good deal at the time and has a clean title. It's quite rusty by West Coast standards but I believe it to be structurally sound. I got it fired up, tossed brakes at it and did an oil change, all in 2023, but since then I've moved twice and haven't touched it since last December.
I just got married and have known for a little while now that I don't really have time for the car, it was always a second project to my 68 Valiant.
Now my question is whether I should try and get it running/driving in order to sell (realistically only a weekend worth of work but not sure the market will support a sale let alone a profitable sale) or do I just cannibalize it for parts and scrap the shell?

How many parts do you need to keep for your other car?

Does the other side look the same? Is all the glass present?

Running and driving means a lot. Sell it whole, but not to the flipper from lynnhood.

You will spend lots of time running ads, removing parts and meeting up with people, then the no shows.

The following is an opinion.
Sell the car whole and complete. It does need work but is a 2 door classic A body that is desirable. It has manual transmission parts that will be great for a future owner that wants to build a 4 or 5 speed car. They made all of these cars that ever will be, cutting this up removes another one from the world, one that could make another person quite happy.
You might make more money by parting it out but as for me, a car with a title should be saved. You could sell this car in one shot without spinning a single wrench AND get a fair price.
Out here, that car would be considered rusty but a guy back east would go bonkers for it. Shipping across country would be at least $1200.
I saw a mid 70s Dart at Carlisle that was a mess. I should have taken pictures. V8 but rusty everywhere, roof partially crushed and the guy had a $3500 price on it.
Yours could sell for $2000 as it sits.

A runner is always 500 times more saleable (easy not $$!) than a rusty non running project. Still it is not a '71 hemi cuda! Spend a few hours to get it running period. You gave $400 for it, maybe worth a few $ more running, wreck that it is.
Striping a car for parts with the idea to sell them all is work and time consuming and a PIA.
Maybe you have a friend with some rural acres where you can store and be sure you want it gone?

I think you answered your own question. If you don't have time to put into the car, you sure as heck don't have time to be stripping down a car, placing ads, and dealing with all the ("can you meet me halfway"/can you ship it/would you trade for my daughter's Barbie collection ?) hassles, and then still have to dispose of the hulk when it's over.
Get it running (at least well enough to load onto a guy's trailer) and send it to it's new home.

make it run and if able to drive-- even if it's just onto a trailer.

it's got a title and if it's a runner that's half the battle.

parting cars is a long and arduous play. you'll likely make more, but when you account for your time and effort the math doesn't line up. and right now, time is your most precious commodity.
