This is a long shot but I'm getting desperate..
I'm looking for Kellie McMurray who used to live off Grant St. in Longwood to see if she might still have the title to the '73 Duster I bought from her in September of 2004. I never got back to picking up the title do to hurricane related issues and I'm ready to get the car on the road. It's not going to be easy nor cheap to re-title the car so I'm hoping to get a hold of the title somehow.
Any information would be apprectiated. doug@dougshome.com

Have you tried using 411.com? I just put in her name and this is what came back. Maybe it is the same person? Good luck with your search.

McMurray, Kellie A
107 Lake Dot Dr

Sanford, FL 32773-6233

(407) 328-9454

Tried that. That's a deceased male. I was a little embarrased when I called them.

I would think the only one who could apply for a lost title is the registered owner. Otherwise there wouldn't be anything to stop anyone from getting a replacement title to anyone else's car

you can apply for a lost title after the car hasn't been registered for a period of time, at least thats how it is here, seven years i beleive.

try international title search in NV. I just replaced a lost title for a '68 notchback through their service and it was quick and legitimate.

its-titles.com is the address. I paid approximately $130 and it was in my mailbox within 10 days. Good luck!

I came across a Kellie McMurray who has lived at several addresses on Church Ave in Longwood:

321-260-9561 or 407-834-9856

International title service 1 800 543 8626 or 1 702 456 4027 their adress is 3342 s. sandhill road, suite 9-445 las vegas nevada 89121 hope this helps, florida is stoopid about lost titles on cars that came from florida. good luck

Is it possible to get a new title from a different state then transfer it over?

Cuda451, Was the title originally in your name? I have no idea who's name was on the title for this car. This its-title.com thing seems to be the answer but I'm not sure if that will be a problem or not.

I lost the original title, which was signed over to me by the seller. I recreated a legitimate title through ITS and then transferred it to PA, my home state.

 So it was was never registered or titled with your name through your state then.. That sounds exactly the same as my situation! THANX FOR THE SUGGESTION. I believe you just saved me a great deal of time/grief/money!

Give acpat (BBD) a shout.........he has a people locator and helped me find a previous owner.

Unbelievable!!! I did a county tax search tracking her addresses and it came up with the same address and phone number that Scuba listed earlier. The same person answered that answered when I called it last year who told me Kellie was a male and had died years before. This time she said Kellie was not home and would take a message... hmmm.. I told her why I was calling and low and behold the Kellie I was looking for gets on the phone and takes my address to mail me my title which she had been hanging on to all this time!!
A little odd but I'M GETTIN' MY MOPAR ON THE ROAD!!!

Thanx all for the help!8)

When we get unsolicited calls, we often used the "deceased" line to have the same effect..lol. Good job finding her

Grant

well that is unless she calls the cops and reports the car stolen.
I just had to add a little contravercy here. I hope the best for you.

I have the same issue going on myself. I bought mine from a salvage yard. Found the name of the registered owner. contacted him and he told me he will apply for lost title. I even sent him the money. Said he did that and was waiting for the title in the mail. Well that was 4 months ago. I call him every month and he says "still waiting for it". Good luck i hope it works better for you

Hemipar, I've had crappy luck with the DMV here in FL, the title to my first car (75 duster ) never showed up ( I was 16 ) and I just assumed my parents got it and put it in a file somewhere......years later when I go to sell it, I have to file to get a title. The only lucky thing was that they didn't have proof that it was sent so I didn't have to pay the fee. Again about 10 yrs ago I had to call up the DMV to report that I had yet to receive a tittle to a truck I bought some 6 months prior.
It's pretty scary that the owner could report it stolen after so long......have the receipts ready to charge them for the upgrades, and storage.....

Dugster, Sounds like a page in the resto scrap book. Sounds like a nice little lady. I'm 30 min down the road from her in east orlando by the track. When exactly is that thing going to be on the road? My duster is getting lonely at the cruise nights. :)

Hopefully I'll be on the road mid July. I'll be updating my web site again as I had lost interest last year. http://www.dougshome.com/duster/

I had been really happy with the way my interior was coming out until I saw yours... Really sharp!

See ya on the road soon.. I hope!

I was looking at your site a little earlier and thought it was a smidge out of date. Whats wrong with your interior? I just had a LOT of time on my hands last summer... the wife spent almost 3 months with her mother out of state after her moms surgery, and I can only play xbox for so long...

... and what is with this "soon" stuff? :dontknow: what are you doing this weekend? it better be working on the duster....it's not going to build itself ya know... :poke: :toothy7:... ok I'm done, but I'll be back later to bug you..

Can I send my wife to your mother-in-laws for three months? :) I know I could finish the car then!
Now that I have portable a/c in the garage I may be able to spend a bit more time working the beast.
I'll be updating the site within the next few days so can can rib me some more about my progress (or lack of).
