I need help picking a new carb. I'm done trying to find the internal leak in my 650 double pumper.

Im looking at carbs in the $500 range, Holley Street HP series,Proform carbs and the Mightey Demons

My car is pretty mild

9.5:1 340
Magnum heads
LD340 intake
XE274H 230/237 .513/523" 110
1-5/8" headers 3" exhaust

low geared 904 with a tight 8" converter 3800 rpm stall
3.91 gears with a 28" tire
Car is close to 3100 lbs.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Holley HP. One guy told me he bolted on one, out of the box with no changes, and picked up a full tenth.

Demons are supposed to be really good, too.

Ive been told to run everything from a 750 double pumper to a 650 Demon. Its much easier picking parts for someone else then for your self. LOL

Jesse had said I was at the point were the 650 may work for me buy but I should probably upgrade to a 750. His carbs are nice but more money then I can afford.

Did you put the new cam and set up in yet?
Take that into consideration when you explain your set up to a carb man.

No not yet Tony but everything Im buyng is for the new set up.

I run a mighty demon---had really good luck with it. took it out of the box and bolted on, it ran great very responsive. as for cfm i had a 360 with about same combo you have, it had a 750. i bought my mighty demon for $500 from jegs.

DEMON DEMON DEMON i love mine its probally the best thing that ive bought for my car!DEMON your cant go wrong
MIKE

adam, there is a guy over on bigblockdart...i think his username is cuda66273

he has somne business...i asked him for some suggestions on mine, and he seems to me to be pretty knowledgeable, and said he can take all your specs and set up the carb for you before he ships it and it's supposed to be right on the money.....possibly an idle adjustment....

i'm sure you've seen his posts and heard of him, and i'll probably give him a shot when i get ready for a carb

That would be Don at FBO and yes he can set ya up.

Yup, Don is an advertiser here and I'll more then likely get a Demon from him.

That 340 with an LD340 manifold would love a tweaked 850cfm Thermoquad!

Just a fresh idea. LOL!

Glad you guys had good luck with your Demon carbs, I have a King Demon 1090 that I put on my Hemi could not get it adjusted properly, was about ready to buy a Holley, called Bigs and talked to Jesse,he said that was not uncommon with Demons, I sent my carb to Bigs, Jesse found METAL shavings behind the power valve plugs and a restricter missing. I think they need some quality control. The carb works great now, thanks to Jesse at Bigs.

No way around it Demon is the best carb out there. Billet all billet. Yes ther has been some QC problems. That is the reason to buy from Don. He will go through it for you and be there for you.

For what it's worth, I've owned 2 holly Street Avengers and have bolted them on out of the box. they've run flawlessly for me

I ordered a Proform body. We'll see if that helps. If not I'll get a set of billet metering blocks and then a base plate.
