O.K , Yesterday my sister who lives in Montreal Que. called me to let me know that just up the road there is this 74 VW Westy for sale for $2500?? not a bad price. She sent me pics and it looks good.

I am actually considering this I have got to be CRAZY. i am going up on Saturday to check it out. Would be good to go camping with the kids I suppose as long as there isn't too much work involved.

Considering the Dart is a long ways from the road anyway I could drive this in the meantime

I hope I don't regret this
Paul

Crazy, no not at all. I have a 73 Super Beetle that I love to drive. I could sell it and turn it into muscle bucks but I just can't do it. There was a really nice westy down the road last year but my wife said no way.

Not worried about buying a VW just worried about setting back the Dart project.

It would be awsum cruzn in a VW.

I wonder orig. wheels & tires or crome low prfiles, Orig orange paint or nice deep blue paint

I'm getting myself psyched

I'm thinkin it would provide many great memories for your family. Go for it.

I've owned a 75, 84 and 86 westy. We did a lot of camping in them with the kids. You can sleep four adults in one. They are great fun for weekend camping trips but don't plan on towing your A body. the 86-91 models are the best.

Hey, what the hell?......sounds good to me! Those are high quality vehicles and I've always liked 'em. BTW, I own a '65 Corvair Corsa turbo......I have a soft spot in my heart for 'vairs. 440 motorhomes are nice too!.......and cheap!

We had a westy in a car show recently and it won a trophy over all the cars there but a 68 cuda that won the other trophy. It was real nice. Apparently they are worth quite a bit when restored so I'd say go for it. Sounds like you can get every penny back that you put into it. That and they are pretty cool.

Yeah I thing I've pretty well talked myself into it. Going to check her over on the weekend and hopefully bring her home

It need a good paint job and little odds and ends but overall solid. Interior is good. Can't wait. Also picking up a 1976 Honda CT70 from my brother in-law while visiting for the young fella he's 5 now.

hell yea go for it im a bug freak
iv had a 59 and a 66 both were rusted out and laying frame i loved them

Just bought the Westy, turns out it is a 1972, real good shape. I have to get the registration and insurance straightened out and bring it home in a couple of weeks.

I know a guy who has two of them, had rolled his third when he tried to park it off road near a cliff ... bad decision! They have a cult following!

Funny I encountered the same problem they had a 74 bus here nice condition for 2000 which I really wanted but the wife and kids said no way!!!

I think I got this, Solid needs obvious paint and odds and ends

Hmmmm.....that IS very nice and untouched looking. Is that a Holley-Weber or one of those old "Bug-spray" 2 barrel carbs?

Yeah, it's pretty well untouched, it used to be two one barrel carbs original and previous owner changed to a single 2 barrel weber.

works good but has a little bogg when stepping on it. don't know yet what to do about this.
