Heys guys and gals(if any). Just wanted to know of any others out there racing around in circles. I am opening up a machine shop in Kansas City Mo. and have built a few motors for a local circle track. I also have read some posts from the past and thats how I found this forum. So let me know whos out there!!!!! Seeeyyaaaaaa

Any mopars racing in the roundy rounder circuits these days? Seems like a brand x dominated form of racing, thats why I lost interest in it. Even years ago at our local tracks you would only see 1 mopar for every 10 chevies.

Welcome to the site wheelsup. I don't roundy-round race but I sure do like to watch it.

Glad to see I'm not the only one on this board that knows how to make a car turn left! :evil2: Got out of drag racing back in the late 70's. C/G Camero, B/FD, AA/DA, and BB/FC. All were Chevy powered. Got back into racing 4 years ago helping a friend with a Late Model. Wouldn't you know I caught the bug again and started my own race team. We have a Monte Late Model on a Howe XL chassis with a Chevy 355, 4412, 11.0:1, on gas which will pull 450 HP on the dyno. Our True Stock is a 78 Olds Cutlass with a 355 Chevy, 4412, 10.0:1 on pump gas. Never pulled the True Stock engine but would guess something in the 325 to 350 HP range. In the True Stock class power isn't the big problem, trying to stick the car on DOT tires is what will win races.
The track made some rule changes over the winter and made racing springs and adjustable spring cups illegal, the Mopar front end should be a big advantage. Up here in Northern NY track temp. might be 120 for time trials at 5 PM and 70 by the main at 10 PM. You can only do so much with tire pressures and stagger.
No one runs a Mopar in the True Stock class so I can't see what the other cars are doing. I keep looking at the Dart, Duster, Demon body style as a starting point. Seems to be a lot of iron in the scrap yards around here, would like to start with something that ran the same sheet metal for a number of years. We try to keep our cars looking good so sheet metal is a big issue.
I would like to run the 5.7 Hemi and the way I read the rules it would be legal. I know as soon as they found out what we had under the hood they would outlaw the engine. The smart thing would be a 360 that we can punch .030. That way if and when we learned the 360 we could put one in the Late Model and hang a Mopar body. It might even open the door to some dealership sponsor money, the Chevy dealers are sewed up tight. We do have a Mopar late model running this year, he's using a crate motor so he can run in the ASA North Series. Haven't seen the car run yet, our first race was yesterday and as usual it was a rain out.
If you have any suggestions let me know. I see you are an engine builder so you can expect me to be tapping your brain when and if we switch to Mopar. If you want to see the track we run on go to http://www.adirondackspeedway.com/ or check out 00 BuckShot Racing at http://00buckshotracing.com/ it has some good photos of the True Stock and the crew.
