ok, you're half way there now, convince yourself that the door handles need to come off. Then take your time and if the "clipy-doos" break i'll help you find them. You'll thank me afterwards. I'm certain your painter is an excellent artist - give him a free and clear pallet to work with. It's unfortunate the small areas where the grab part of the handles block the metal on the door, and the metal under the handles, will come back and bite you in a few years.
