74 Five MPH Front Bumper & Shocks

Back to what Blue said about Dions car. Mine had the front shocks with the 3 un-threaded holes behind them. I drilled thru the frame and bolted on my new mounts. The back bumper which didn't come with mounts, was in the back seat when I got the car. The bumper and reinforcement weighed in at...

74 Five MPH Front Bumper & Shocks

Today I "tucked" in the back bumper, I moved in as far and as high as it would go. Again the ends are a little wild, but I'm pretty happy with it...

74 Five MPH Front Bumper & Shocks

Thanks, good info. I got lucky setting it up as I had some some 2" angle with 1/2" holes punched every 2.5" on both sides. I cut them in even lengths and using the bumper bolts attached them to the bumper which with the plates and channels attached it turned out to be the perfect width to mount...

For Retired Hippies Only. What are you listening to?

Montrose "Space Station # 5" I can't figure how to post the album cover or song from YouTube, maybe cause I spent to much time on Space Station #5 :p

74 Five MPH Front Bumper & Shocks

I pulled the bottom in some to which helped a bit as well. The old bumper system including the bumper, reinforcement, shocks and hardware weighed in at 86.5 lbs. The new setup with the old bumper, fabrication and new hardware, weighs in at 31lbs, for a 54.5 lb weight loss. This coming week I'm...

74 Five MPH Front Bumper & Shocks

Thank you, it turned out nice. The channel with the tabs came from a motorcycle cycle lift I found in my neighbors trash. It served a dual purpose to mount the modified fender braces from an old van I scrapped. Its a little wild on the ends, but all in all it looks much better from the front.

74 Five MPH Front Bumper & Shocks

Spent a little time in the "FabShack" yesterday and came up with these new bumper brackets using scrap I had laying around.

74 Five MPH Front Bumper & Shocks

According to the response I'm getting on this, I'm going to assume the value of these parts, outside of the bumper itself, is negligible. I'll give it another day or two and then I'm going to start hacking away on what I have not so much for appearance sake, but mostly weight savings. Thanks

I'm thinking something like that too Tom

74 Five MPH Front Bumper & Shocks

I have a 72 Demon that needs quite a bit of rust repair on the back half but the front is pretty nice. I've been resisting swapping those pieces thinking I might "fix it up"

74 Five MPH Front Bumper & Shocks

My filler is in very nice shape as well. I'd think if you took it out and couldn't get the bumper back far enough a gap between the bumper and valance wouldn't look right. Did you remove any of the reinforcement behind the bumper?

What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Finished my 74 Duster front end project, which included rebuilding the front suspension, a driveway alingment, stripping and painting the front fenders. Yesterday I put in a Toyota Headlight relay kit, which is pretty nice and very bright BTW. Today I detailed the headlight wiring, put in the...

74 Five MPH Front Bumper & Shocks

I'm thinking of "tucking" the front bumper on my 74 Duster. I've read where removing the rubber filler and collapsing the shocks to move it back. I've also read that it doesn't move it back enough to look right and if I read the post correctly it might even make it look worse. To do anything...

    Headlight Relay Kits

I just got my 2 light Toyota kit today. I got it off ebay out of Richmond KY. Other than the power connections being a little small and the bulky cover, I think it's pretty nice.

    Headlight Relay Kits

It's nice to see where you are going, and just as important, is to be seen by others coming up behind you. It looks simple enough to buy the relays and try it myself, but electrical work is challenge for me at times. I'm leaning towards the Toyota kit as it includes the headlights.

    Headlight Relay Kits

How does this system affect the tail lights? Will they become brighter?

    Headlight Relay Kits

I see one plug to power it. That plugs into the driver side stock light female socket, then the new plugs go to the new headlights and the stock passenger female socket is not used?

    Headlight Relay Kits

This will work in a 69 Satellite, 70 and 72 Duster?

    That is why I'm asking.

    Headlight Relay Kits

I'm looking for a headlight relay kit for my Duster. Aside from the preferred source are there any others? I actually have 3 cars that need them. Thanks

[WANTED] Seat back push buttons with trim

I'm looking for the front bench seat back push buttons that release them to flip forward. These are on the bench seat that came in a 70 Duster. I'm need 1 complete button and 2 trims. I'm not sure if they came in chrome, if so I would like to have two buttons with the matching trim. Thanks

    Spring Carlisle

Anyone in the NE going to Spring Carlisle. That show is massive, and there are some Mopar vendors there, but it's exhausting trying to find them. A 2.5hr ride for me I'm thinking Fri and Saturday? Anyone else. Englishtown Raceway Swap Meet is next weekend too, alot more manageable, not much if...

    Duster Window and Door differences

I got it figured out and working correctly. The green doors are 73, primered are 74. The 74 doors, have all the major parts, but a few harder to find pieces are missing. The past few days, I've been working on the green doors and with some elbow grease, was able to get them in good working...

    [Found!] 73 Duster Window Parts

I have two set's of decent doors with the correct hardware minus those pieces in the pictures. I have since posting this, cleaned them up and can use them. So all I really need is the parts in the pictures. Thanks
