440 power gains/ aluminum head advantages?

Remember IF you find rhe timing is off, you can play the game of using offset bushings or keys or whatever or even in combo with a tooth off to get the cam where it belongs. I've done that before as it really doesn't matter "how you got there" so long as the cam ends up where it's supposed to be.

440 power gains/ aluminum head advantages?

So went back and looked at my 4260# 69 Charger data. I previously detailed the specs I ran with this car (post #26). Again, TCI 10" Street Fighter torque converter that stalled (flashed off the footbrake) at 3200 rpm for my 440. Car ran 12.50's-12.60's and the 60' was right around 1.8 sec...

    73 Duster build named Fred

Been there, done that! I'm a Sportsman racer (1/4 mile) but had sat in the stands to watch Pro and Super Pro one day for about an hour+. Those guys obviously only get to race 1/2 of a race (lol) to the 1/8 mile. They then called Sportsman up to race. I chased my guy down WAY before the 1/8...

    “Budget” Suspension Build Input

As for boxing the LCA's, save your $$ from buying anything. Just take some 1/8" scrap steel you have laying around and weld some straps across them. (I think i put 3 across mine.) All you need to do is tie the 2 sides together so save your $$ and make this part of the deal!

    Wheel lug hack.

I use 1 of these wheel dolly's. I have a set of 4 since they are so helpful to move cars around. But I take just 1 and use it to lift/rotate the tire right into position and then shove it on. These wheels/tires are getting heavier!! Well ok, not really...I'm just getting weaker! Your white...

440 power gains/ aluminum head advantages?

If it does turn out to be suspect cam timing and it's retarded, when you correct that, your converter will likely flash higher. I previously noted my 440 Charger in this thread. Like you said you have, mine is also an old TCI 10" converter - the "Street Fighter" they called it. Mine flashed...

muriatic acid, OK for carb soaking?

As previously mentioned, it is used to lower the pH in pools as needed. I keep a couple gallons on hand and dump some in when called for. You do NOT want to have your nose over where you're pouring it in and for heaven's sake wear safety glasses in case something splashes back at you! I put...

1969 Race Dart w/ 426 Hemi- garaged for 45+ years

If that foam fits fairly tight, it should have nowhere to go. And if it moves back, the carbs/air cleaners should stop it. I did that same thing when I moved the avatar Demon from Detroit to Florida with a big piece of foam off Amazon stuffed into the 6-pack scoop. And of course, we had to...

    A few 2-Step questions

What about a momentary button on your shifter you hold to allow the 2-step to be activated? Sorta like the line-loc button. That way the 2-step is only "awake" when you hold that button and your foot is on the brake. That would require foot and button release coordination though so maybe not...

440 power gains/ aluminum head advantages?

Cranking compression and "cranking psi" are the same thing. You're looking for the cylinder we pressure the engine makes while cranking. A late intake valve closing (like an excessively retarded cam install) will show up as lower cranking compression values. 160 psi seems a bit low to me...

440 power gains/ aluminum head advantages?

As the gurus have mentioned, you REALLY, REALLY want to know where the cam is as-installed. Not a guess or dot-to-dot or whatever; but where is that intake centerline set at? It is really important because if it's retarded from where it is supposed to, the engine will be sluggish and lazy...

Massive caster variance Side to side

FWIW...I have the bubble gauge as shown above but instead of Longacre Racing on it, mine says Joe's Racing Products. Same gauge! I used several heavy thick plastic garbage bags folded over a few times as my turning plates. (They worked well as you could turn my manual steer avatar car with...

Cost for labor on stroker build?

Big fan of strokers! Spend the coin - you would not regret it. The torque they make is incredible!! Can't really use it on the street as it's just a smoke show if you hammer it. But they are quite the hoot for sure. As for cost, aside from the crank/rods/pistons, they are no different...
