'70 Dart 392 Project; what direction?

Ouch. That Holley FEAD does move everything forward, didn’t think it would be that big of an issue though. Might have to look at a dual fan setup. Glad to see you still making progress either way.

1974 Plymouth duster 360 fender tag decode.

I could be wrong about this, but seems like I have heard that not everything got onto the fender tag every time. Makes sense than N41 would since it was part of the 360 package, but maybe not the N42 tips if it was an option? Mine doesn’t have tips, so I’m not help beyond the N41 dual exhaust.

1974 Plymouth duster 360 fender tag decode.

There is some possibility that the '75 and '76 E58 non-CA motors didn't have single exhaust and cats. Here is the factory offerings for '75 - https://www.hamtramck-historical.co...DataBook/1975/75-1-Dodge-engineering_0004.jpg Here is the '76 offerings. -...

    1974 Duster 360's left

I don’t know of a registry, but the link Blu posted is close. I will get you added to the running list at some point soon. Not that I am the only one that do can, but I did start the thread so I have been updating it as people come and go.

Did the 1979 Lil Red Express come with an air pump?

It is possible that the federal E58 from ‘75-‘77 didn’t get a single exhaust or a cat.

Did the 1979 Lil Red Express come with an air pump?

The dealer info stills says 8.4:1 for ‘75 and ‘76. My guess is the power loss is due to tuning changes to get the motor through emissions with the dual exhaust and no cats. Assuming the link I posted had an accurate recollection and the ‘75 and ‘76 A-Body did still had dual exhaust and no cat...

Did the 1979 Lil Red Express come with an air pump?

I found it interesting that the '75-'77 E58 is listed with dual exhaust. I figured the drop in HP/TQ between '74 and '75 was due to having to use a single exhaust and a cat, but I found this post that makes me think they did actually keep the dual exhaust through at least probably '76. Not...

Did the 1979 Lil Red Express come with an air pump?

That's interesting. I would have argued that the 650 number was maybe someone misreading it (6 does look like 8). I've always heard of them as rated at 800 and 850 cfm. Looking at the list of TQ numbers, it does appear that the later E58 motors did get the smaller (1 3/8" primary) TQ, so that...

Did the 1979 Lil Red Express come with an air pump?

Here is the factory offerings for '75 - https://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBook/1975/75-1-Dodge-engineering_0004.jpg Note that there were two versions of the E58 that year, federal and CA. For the federal motor, torque peak RPM is the same as for the '74...

Did the 1979 Lil Red Express come with an air pump?

That article is funny. It mentions a 650 TQ as well. And the prototype got a 252/252 cam while the production EH1 got the 340 cam?

Did the 1979 Lil Red Express come with an air pump?

I posted magazine 1/4 miles times earlier, not that I am in favor of racing magazine articles. But based on those numbers, the LRE isn't anywhere near as fast a '74 Duster 360. It was faster than a car E58 though. I'd be curious if you can hear any kind of a lope in yours. Wonder if the...

Did the 1979 Lil Red Express come with an air pump?

Post #40 also listed cam specs. And look at the torque and hp peak RPM’s for the ‘79 E58 and ‘78 EH1 I listed in post #21. They are just too way off to make sense with the 340 auto cam. ‘75 and ‘76 listed an E58 engine with a high performance cam, that had similar peaks the the ‘74 E58. But...

Did the 1979 Lil Red Express come with an air pump?

There is no way that is the cam in the LRE though. 340 auto cam was dead probably after '76 and the '77 and later E58 and all EH1 motors probably had the same cam as the 2 bbl 360. Maybe it was a different cam, but no way was it the 340 auto cam. See post 40 in this thread.

    Hot Rod Power Tour 2024

Exactly. But I'm just creating a scenario where someone could end up in a late model car instead of their muscle car. Not trying to put words in anyone's mouth or put them down for their choices. Funny thing is, overall a Challenger really isn't much bigger than a Duster. AMA specs for a...

    Hot Rod Power Tour 2024

To be fair, there is broad range of skill levels and as hot rodding has advanced into the electronic age there are some that aren't comfortable or just plain don't want to move forward. It has gotten easier with some of the self tuning options available now, but before that people were stuck...

    Hot Rod Power Tour 2024

No argument. I had a '15 Challenger R/T and loved it, drove it all the time and took it on a couple of road trips even. But I would never think to take it to a show, for sure. Even if I had done the 14.5" cop brakes, 6.4 cam/intake/headers and added other features. I like to look at the new...

I remember hearing about a guy running a turbo'ed Magnum in an early Dakota 4WD. Even launched in 4WD, I guess he was pretty quick. I think his screen name was "Boxcar"? I never crossed paths with him on the internet, but was always curious. Tried to look him up a couple of times and never...

    Hot Rod Power Tour 2024

Unfortunately, those cars make really good cruisers. And it is much easier to buy a newer car that is also faster than most old cars and drive it than to try and modernized the old one. And if you want to keep the old one stock, it makes the newer cars even more enticing. Not saying it is...
