    Enlarging PRP doesn't always help

I've noticed while watching cylinder head reviews of all kinds with flow charts, that there seems to be a somewhat fixed general range in the lower lifts no matter it's size, total cfm, valve size etc.. if it's a 300 cfm 289/302 sbf head or a 540 cfm big block Chevy head.

That's pretty cool, love something like that, I miss flying, I total forgot I use to until I just watched your video :) My Grandfather wanted me to become an helicopter pilot, so he paid for my air plane flying lessons from age 11 to 16 but he died before I could get my license.

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

Those videos is what started this whole thread in the 1st place, all they show is tighter lsa generally makes more midrange torque (basically increases the tq per cid) but who is doubting that in the 1st place ? None of them prove or even total disprove DV formula, but to me bring it into...

Always thought this Briggs and Stratton v8 was kind of cool, apparently it's water cooled now.

    Enlarging PRP doesn't always help

In the end of the day your getting 308 cfm with a 2.02 valve, your doing pretty good, doubt many would be unhappy with those results. Do you plan on playing around with with larger valves at some point ?

    Enlarging PRP doesn't always help

The ssr is still a bit of a mystery to me, I get the basic idea what your supposed to do to it but still seems like a bit of a black art, the rest seems like there's straightforward strategies, throat and bowl to valve ratios, csa of the port opening, pinch, port volume to cfm etc.. That should...

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

Maybe their lobes are asymmetrical ? That might have an effect, seems like this equation is just doubling the overlap side of the lobes assuming the other side is identical.

It's crazy the things those guys can squeeze out of those cars.

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

That equation can only tell single or average of a split, eg. 268/272 average duration is 270, so 110 lsa x 2 + 50* = 270

    Enlarging PRP doesn't always help

From what I've been noticing from what I've been watching( I'm not a head porter: ), smallish engines at reasonable rpms eg.. 318-371 @ 5000-6500 rpms we have generally enough CSA available to us so it's of lesser concern, so getting the most flow for given size is generally beneficial, but once...

    Nicks Garage 383 build

I've only skimmed through them, but it seems he can't figure out why it won't get over 400 lbs-ft and since there factory rated for around 425 lbs-ft he think something up.

I skipped through it apparently his still can't figure out why it's making less than rated stock torque #'s seems like a part III is coming soon :)

Apparently there's a part II, don't if he finds more torque.

Looks like the port shape should work really well, just needs to be bigger.

    Magnum head drill fixture

Shouldn't you be able to mock it up on an engine and mark where the holes should be then drill and tap them.

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

The dyno test I'd like to see, Eg.. say DV formula says 109 lsa with 65* of overlap, run it against cams from say from 100 to 120 lsa with 65* of overlap, I mainly like to see going tighter lsa.

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

Well if you go 116 to 108 that's 16-32 lbs-ft but ya go from 110 to 108 not gonna be that huge, 4-8 lbs-ft gain. From what I've noticed on the few lsa comparisons we got, as you go tighter than gains get smaller so going 112 from 116 could get better average gains then going 108 from 112. 110...

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

Overlap is what can kills vacuum, which is a combination of lsa and duration, people generally will sacrifice lsa for more duration, DV position is to do the opposite, run the required lsa (builds more low and mid torque) and sacrifice duration instead for acceptable overlap. Now I haven't seen...

    Stroke a 318

Depending on top end, especially heads and cam. If you can get the small bore/long stroke to displace enough fuel and air over time (CFMs) the engine will rev, just a bigger bore shorter is more suited to higher rpms.

    318 Poly Flow Test

That's what I was thinking, pretty much on par with LA 273/318 heads.

    Old magnum MP cam info

    This is what I found, no idea if true. "It's the RT+10 cam. duration - 272/278 o-lap - 37 centerline - 119 lift - .467/.482 recom. spring - P5249464"

    273 Commando - UTG

From what I've seen, it seems like the average pay is around 5-7 dollars per 1,000 views, he's got about 90 million total views so about $600,000 over 7 years plus any merchandise. His videos have very little production so he probably don't have to spend to much time on them. They say you only...

    273 Commando - UTG

Your subscribers numbers generally don't correlate with total views. But ya you would think he'd be averaging at least twice of those view numbers, 30,000 views that's about $200 a video.

    Tapper to roller cam conversion

That should do it with the right parts. As for hydraulic roller, if you run a mechanical fuel pump you need a roller cam with the right snout for the pump, a set of retro fit roller lifters, push rods, and possibly the distributor/oil pump gear with the right material.

    Tapper to roller cam conversion

Heads are basically the item that determines and engines available power capabilities, to make 450 hp you need heads capable of 450 hp at the rpms you'll need to turn for your displacement to get there and work with the general cams cr intake exhaust etc... needed for that level. A 340 gonna...
