Trick Flow Heads: Conflicting Info on Mechanical Roller Spring Pressure

I think you are correct on changing the springs, the valve springs were upgraded on the Trick Flow roller cam heads on my engine, for the .660 lift Bullet roller cam.

Changing crankshaft bearings with the engine in the car.

I have done it, but I am too old to want to lay on my back that long anymore. My buddy’s 71 Demon has a 360 with a deep oil pan, that he could barely get out of his driveway. He debated on changing the oil pan with the engine in the car, I had him drive it to my garage and pulled the engine...

    Sleeved 340

I got a 340 block for free because it needed a sleeve. The machine shop put 2 sleeves in it, and been running for years. I just had a 440 block sleeved, got to put it together yet.

What about Brodix B1-BA cylinder heads

When I bought my set of B1-BA heads, I think they were $1900 with the titanium retainers. The engine build was for racing only. I would think for the cost PRH has mentioned, there are better alternatives now.

    Trans Shield/Scattershield Options/Alternatives

I was on the waiting list for over a year for the CSR shield previously. Paid for and no sign of ever getting it. Cancelled my order and got a TCI shield that wouldn’t fit. Unfortunately, if you have a factory floor in the car, your options are limited. A blanket is ok, but I had to make tabs to...

And the non clorinated brake cleaner is flammable, so you have to be careful around electrical connections and sparks

    904 vs 999

    Cam bearings

It is possible, I have done it before. The problem is if the cam doesn’t fit the new bearings, and you have to clearance the bearings. That is why I was taught when building an engine, install the cam first to make sure that it fits.

    [WANTED] W2 heads

I think that I have something that you can use. I have 6 total 810 heads, and 2 693? Heads. 1 810 leaks water, and 1 693 was ruined by a broken valve. The other 693 head looks identical to the picture you show. I will try to get some pictures when I get home.

Can a stock fuel pump produce too much pressure?

My neighbor has a 57 Chevy, been sitting for a few years. Had a problem after he got it running of the 600 Holley carb doing the same thing you described. After he worked on it a few days, I put a fuel pressure gauge in the line to the carb. It had 12 psi of fuel pressure with the stock fuel...

    489 Crush sleeve or Eliminator

The last crush sleeve I tried to use was for a customer and his 489 housing. He provided all the parts to install a 4.10 gear set. I tried to set the pinion bearing preload, had the pinion nut torqued to over 450 ft. lbs. and still had free play. Ended up pulling the threads out of the pinion...

    318 Internal Vacuum Leak?

I had an intake manifold leak, couldn’t find it but assumed it was leaking in the valley. I installed a different manifold, with new Fel-Pro gaskets and eliminated the cork end seals. Your power brake booster could be leaking also

    Upper control arm replacement

Up north, we have to deal with everything rusted. I have soaked the cam bolts for days before trying to remove, and still had them rusted in the bushing and wouldn’t come out. Removing the front shocks will give you more room. I would check the lower ball joints, tie rod ends and lower control...

Has anyone had any problems installing this TCI trans shield.

I bought a TCI Trans Shield for my 93 Daytona, small block with a 904 trans. I had to modify both sides to fit, and cut 1 1/2" out of the bottom to get it to fit. Had to make a new cable mount for the PPP shifter, and modify both exhaust collectors from hitting the shield. The right side...

    A few 2-Step questions

Most of the cars I seen using a 2 step when foot braking use a pressure switch in the brake system. Some had a toggle switch that had to be turned off after leaving, and some used a switch on the brake pedal or on the steering wheel to activate. Could also use a switch on the shifter that opens...

Slow Crank, No Start When Warm

...check voltage drop cold before starting and then warm, to see a difference. On my car, I run the fans constantly before shutting off the engine. And sometimes run the fans after shutting off the engine, to cool down under hood temperature. I have not seen water temperature above 200* at any time.
