My 408 is an actual 10.5 CR with Eddy heads. I run nothing but pump 93 octane in it. And I don't worry about ethanol-free. Street or strip, it gets the same fuel. Your build is similar enough that you should have no issue using the same fuel.

Also make sure the gap for the reluctor in the distributor is set properly (0.008"). If it's hitting, you may still get spark but have a tick for however many "fins" hit the magnet. Just a thought.

I have the single groove pulley version of this Powermaster 1-wire on the avatar. It has been excellent for the three years it's been on there (knock on wood). I run 2 electric fans and an electric fuel pump without issue at idle (approx 800-900 rpm).

No hacks but you might learn/use some new swear words! I could only ever get about 1/8 bolt turn for each grab with the wrench. Real pain in the hinee for sure!

I did exactly what @crackedback recommended. Ground cable comes off the battery and goes straight down through the trunk floor to the right rear frame rail. That cable can't be more than 14" or so. Then a same size cable from the right rear cyl head to a nut welded to the right front rail...
