360 LA getting oil in #3 cylinder.

Since this worked out, I thought I would add it to this story. At the time, I thought people may think I was crazy for filing on the deck surface. I bought a machinist's straight edge from Summit to check the block deck surface and found that the deck was pulled up at each of the top row of head...

    Ailing engine (Updated after teardown)

On another subject, one of my friends was running Cometic MLS head gaskets on his 500" B Altered Pontiac Grand Am, and he had problems with water leaking out between the head gasket layers. He ended up drilling out the rivets and sealing between each layer. I think he said he sprayed copper coat...

    Ailing engine (Updated after teardown)

My brother in law bought a 74 Duster early last year. It was running rough, so I decided to take a look at it. Found lots of oil in number 3 cylinder. It had a head gasket blown out that looked just like yours. Pulled the heads and had them resurfaced by a race engine shop. I bought a...

What to use when drying off car after wash?

I have a black 05 Ram. It has been my daily driver since new, mileage now 141K. It has no water spots or swirls in the paint. I always wash my wheels, tires, and fenderwells first so I can keep water off the paint as long as possible to avoid it drying into waterspots. Then I blast it off with...

Street Freaks, Customs, Rods, Street Machines...60's 70's 80's

That's what I lived in growing up and where I had most of my fun vehicles. After I moved out on my own, I couldn't afford to have as much fun. Quote

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

I wasn't implying that. I just thought that name sounded familiar. https://www.dragzine.com/news/is-the-1972-motown-missile-cuda-gone-forever/ Look closely and you can see the name on the front fender in one the the pictures.

I believe this was originally the 72 Motown Missile ProStock Cuda which has since been restored.

    Lost my little doggy.

This is exactly what Belle did in January. At first I thought she had found something stinky on the driveway to roll around on... until her head arched back and she started squeeling. A syncope is a heart related event. Then Riley did the same thing twice early Feb 12. The second time he...

    Lost my little doggy.

Just saw this. Absolutely, prayers for Thurman. Riley dove off our sofa years ago when the doorbell rang. I kept rugs in front of the sofa so he could get up and down, but this time he jumped across and hit the slick floor. This resulted in a couple injured discs. Thankfully, he seemed to fully...

    Lost my little doggy.

Sorry to hear about Buster. Since 2 Shih Tzu are all I've had, they are the standard for me. I couldn't have dreamed up a better little dog to live with me. I read that they are slow learners or difficult to train. I could show them something 2 or 3 times and they got it. So now I have my 13...

    Lost my little doggy.

My heart goes out to all who have lost their best buddy. Thanks to all for your kind words. If I was home, he was right by my side. He slept by my shoulder for most of those years. Even now I still can't sleep in my bed. Anytime we were in my pickup, he was on my lap. I would roll down my window...

Now it has happened to me. I lost my Riley. He was my first dog ever. He had beautiful brown eyes that you could look into and know he had a soul.

Searching for a Mopar Mechanic near Chicago"

I'm no expert but lots of changes. Isn't that cam a little long on duration? Cam timing is important. Did the 73 340 have 2.02 valves? Asking for myself as well. Stock 73 340 is a low compression engine. Stock 73 340 didn't have a square bore carb did it? A friend of mine bought a new 73 Dart...

    Say Why Blower Manifold??

In 1971, I found one on a 413 at a local salvage yard. It had a 671 blower set up with a chain drive (maybe motorcycle chain) and 2 carb adapter plates. I bought it cheap thinking about putting it on my 68 Charger R/T. Lol. I was 16 years old. What did I know. My car had A/C so I knew that would...

Have you ever seen any Dart, Valiant, Demon or Duster with a rear window defroster?

If you're asking about my car, no. I bought it well used in 2014. Hoping it would be drivable. Maybe. But I wasn't going to drive it like it was. It has a 340 with lumpy cam and automatic with tight convertor. Put it in gear and it chokes the engine.

Have you ever seen any Dart, Valiant, Demon or Duster with a rear window defroster?

Door sticker was / is completely blank. I started removing it because everything needs to be stripped to bare metal anyway. I wondered if this sticker was some sort of reproduction because it was blank.

Have you ever seen any Dart, Valiant, Demon or Duster with a rear window defroster?

I also had a 72 Dodge Demon with the rear window defogger. It attached to one of the 6x9 speaker holes in the package shelf. Air was pulled in through the perforated speaker area.

Have you ever seen any Dart, Valiant, Demon or Duster with a rear window defroster?

I have a 73 Dart 340 Sport, fold down rear seat, sunroof car. It has the defrost type rear window. It appears to me to be original using the factory wiring harness. Switch under dash.

    Maybe I've learned a good lesson . . .

Yes it is a beautiful car! I like that it has a painted roof. My 68 was gold with white vinyl top. About 4 years later, I had a green 70 R/T without vinyl top.

    What Pet(s) do you have?

A little over 4 years later... Riley's has passed 15. His eyes are cloudy. He can only see shadows or light with his left eye, no response from his right eye. He can only hear loud or sharp noises. I lead him around everywhere he goes. He will run into things or walk off an edge like stairs...

Fake Money Used to Purchase Classic Car

I stopped at a bank in Ridgeway, VA about 20 years. Walked up to the outside ATM and got $100. I counted it as soon as it was dispensed. One of the $20 bills looked slightly off in color so I went inside the bank and asked to swap it so someone wouldn't think I was trying to pass a counterfeit...
