    Mystery wire(s) help

I notice you’re using 1972 diagrams which is better than nothing or 3rd party diagrams that are almost useless. Have you been able to get 1973 diagrams? Try mymopar for a 73 manual.

Hi from Phoenix AZ! Picked up a non-running 1974 Plymouth Valiant Scamp

You’re probably thinking of the air pump that was put on some engines in 1975. Chrysler’s lean burn system was introduced until 1976 and only then on the 400. In 1977 Chrysler installed it on all V8 engines.

For all you old Maple Leafs fans

I thought this thread was going to be about Tavares and/or Marner being traded!?

Hi from Phoenix AZ! Picked up a non-running 1974 Plymouth Valiant Scamp

Welcome! Awesome to see another late year Scamp being saved and put back on the road eventually! Front discs were not standard until January 1976 so it was only the late 1976 model year A bodies that had them all. I suspect your Scamp was made late in the production run for the 1974 model...

    Thermostat gasket leaking AGAIN!!!!

Is it one of those chrome thermostat housings? Years ago I tried a bunch of different gaskets and tried sanding both the surface of the intake and the thermostat housing cover and it would always leak. I then bought a Billit housing with the o-ring gasket and it’s not leaked since.

    Decoding my 340

If the buyer paid a ‘premium’ for a numbers matching car and it turns out it wasn’t (after the purchase went though) well, then whenever the current owner sells to down the road, he wont be able to ask a premium for it being numbers matching. It’s a moot point now for the existing owner though.

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

Unrelated to your goal of getting the Duster on the road again, how come the water pump isn’t painted blue like the rest of your engine?

    Another boring mpg story…

Yeah that came to an end here last August. Minimum ethanol content is now 5% even in the 94 octane from Chevron.

    Another boring mpg story…

That’s a good run! Were you moving along the Malahat or was it stop and go/crawl through that choke point? Hwy 4 can be a fun drive west of PA if you’re not stuck behind a camper van. I’d be happy with that mileage too.

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

Your making great progress learning various areas of your car! Well done! How did he get Dart (2 door hardtop) doors for your Duster? Did he tell you the doors were wrong before he butchered them?

Three good reasons why I still do my own repairs.

Yup. Yet some people think flying in small planes is unsafe yet every commercial built plane needs to be annually inspected (and not just kicking the tires) to be insured annually. However, depending on the jurisdiction, vehicles dont have any inspections or do but they are Mickey Mouse, and...

Three good reasons why I still do my own repairs.

The frightening thing is the people who actually do those repairs probably think those are completely fine ‘fixes’. In other words, they would likely do similar repairs on their own cars.

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

That’s frustrating to experience. Do you know if the car is still not sold? I suppose after a period of time the seller will realise his asking price is out of touch with reality. It all comes down to how badly does he want to sell it.

    2024 Wheels Nationals Umea.

Perfect time of year for it! I remember being on a road trip (I wasn’t old enough to drive yet) where we drove from Stockholm to northern Sweden (Kiruna) and then zipped over into Norway (Narvik) before making our way back to Stockholm. The endless hours of daylight during the summer in...
