    273 Commando - UTG

Is that all? I wouldn't think it would be worth the effort and time to do all that filming and editing for 200 bucks. Hes probably making 3 or 4 dollars a hour

    Lifter failure

See the one I have circled? Notice the pattern is off to the side? I see this often when I re-face brand new lifters. The lifter was held crooked when the spherical radius was ground on the face.

    273 Commando - UTG

The real question is if a guy has 364,000 subscribers, and gets 30k views on a video, why don't the other 334,000 of his subscribers watch anymore?

    Lifter failure

In my shop I try NOT to build anything flat tappet. But when I do, I have a tobin-arp tappet grinder and I reface EVERY lifter that gets installed. I also save all the flat tappets I pull from core engines. The surface finish and radius is terrible on a bunch of the new ones right out of the box

Cost for labor on stroker build?

I have discovered the ignore feature is a great thing! Not interested in a guy who doesn't own a car or build engines, giving out advice on a car forum. Dan the man with no car

1969 Race Dart w/ 426 Hemi- garaged for 45+ years

Correct, trying to make sure he heard from other legitimate sources that it was gonna be a lot more expensive than originally expected. But at the end, scott didn't expect it to cost a lot, and I agreed to the reduced price because I felt bad for him, but it doesn't seem unreasonable to let...

1969 Race Dart w/ 426 Hemi- garaged for 45+ years

Just for clarification, it's only been a few weeks, not "out of the woodwork after a year"

1969 Race Dart w/ 426 Hemi- garaged for 45+ years

Well, I thought I would update the thread a bit, and highlight my shortcomings of keeping track of my labor hours. I, like many others, got caught up in the "coolness" of the build, and got all excited, almost forgetting I'm running a actual business. When I discussed the final cost with scott...

1969 Race Dart w/ 426 Hemi- garaged for 45+ years

Really there was no one to blame but myself. I didn't document the time properly, and kinda screwed myself as a result. NOT Scott's fault, just frustrated at myself, really.

Maybe back once in a while

Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm gonna thicken my skin and try to hang around a bit more!

1969 Race Dart w/ 426 Hemi- garaged for 45+ years

I realize I shouldn't have posted about this, it's just been bothering me for a long time. Bottom line is, the car is done, the customer is happy, end of story. My apologies to all you guys. Carry on!

1969 Race Dart w/ 426 Hemi- garaged for 45+ years

Just wanted to explain my side of the story, as the builder, did it for pennies on the dollar, and I have nothing to say negative about the car owner, other than he was naive, and I got the short end of the financial stick.

    Nicks Garage 383 build

Nick is not a engine "builder" he is a engine "assembler" and there is a difference. He has figured out how to take 10 minutes of content and stretch it out into 45 minute videos. That's how he makes money

You wanna see people whine, tell them what I sold you your R3 block for, lol
  27. replicaracer43

Small block bottom build horsepower limit

And if you need to do all that to a factory block to withstand your power goals, you need a better block PERIOD. How many idiots are gonna spend 2k dollars on a weak *** 302 block when you could buy a WAY superior block from dart for the same final cost and make more power?
  28. replicaracer43

Small block bottom build horsepower limit

David vizard is a story teller/book writer. Tons of "theory" and "formulas" But hes also a crook. He **** a good freind of mine who has a machine shop also, out of a bunch of labor for machine work he never paid for.
