Need some help on pulley sizing

The fan speed is important, but the water pump speed is just as important or maybe even importanter. If you know what I mean. lol

63 Dodge Dart, now let me see;)

You're doin some fine work here, Dne. What's this about a cart for "scrap metal". C'mon man! lol Get this though. We got a cat from a local lady about 5 years ago. Kitty's siamese had died and she wanted another one. I found her one in Byron, Georgia, about 30 miles south of us. The lady's...

    1972 Demon with 71 340 casting

It makes sense when you think about it, because 72 was the year they changed from gross HP rating to net. Thanks for that.

Cool. Thanks. I don't remember WHERE I saw April, but somehow it's always stuck out in my mind. I wish other things would too. lol

And that's the thing. You just never know till you try.

    Quarter Mile Gear Selection

Oh I don't know. Sometimes it pays to swap around. If it was mine, I'd try the 3.91 after the 4.10 just to see what happens.

I see him on Facebook eeeeevery now and then.

Who else ever felt this way?

I slap fell in love with mine and it was a 170. The little car would scoot. It was very responsive. I WAS going to shoehorn a 400 in it, but I kept it a slant 6 and put this warmed over 225 in it. It puts a smile on my face every single time I drive it.

Pretty shitty of him to leave you negative feedback. That's all I can say.

And there you have it. No deception whatsoever. This thread is worthless.

    904 kickdown Q

I'm unsure that's the best thing to do. Even though it's a circle track car, if you wire the KD lever locked all the way back, it might not down shift correctly. That might not give the best results. I guess the only way to know is to try it and see.

I agree, although I really don't consider 4.250 "small". But I get your point.

understanding a low oil pressure 360

Auto shop classes were just cool as all heck. It's a real shame they barely exist now.

I'm sure it is a big deal. Short stroke motors can be a ***** to get good compression from.

understanding a low oil pressure 360

I don't see how the heck anyone can help him until that's found out. I know a guy who built a slant six with standard crank bearings on a .010 under crank. It actually had "decent" oil pressure until it got the least little bit of heat in it, then it didn't have "much".

It seems somewhere in the toilet of my mind I remember that being so. But like I said, I'm just not familiar enough with them.

If the valve cover he has is for a hydraulic lifter engine and he has a solid lifter engine, then no, it won't work for him. In all these years I've never, ever seen a Mopar Performance Chrome valve cover for the hydraulic lifter slant 6. I wasn't even aware they ever made one.

Crapped if I know. I wouldn't think the seller is on the hook myself. There was no deception. It seems the buyer didn't even ask if the valve cover fit his engine, he just bought it. It's not the seller's responsibility to know whether or not something he's selling will fit what the buyer has...

    Nicks Garage 383 build

Zero deck is easily attainable. Splittin hairs. I'm really not familiar with the HP engines. only enough to know they had tighter deck clearance than the passenger car engines. Were they positive deck height like the 340? That'd be cuttin it close with no valve reliefs.

The numbers put it .014" in the hole. I'd say that's dang close.

    1972 Demon with 71 340 casting

Then there you go. If it doesn't have a vibration when running, it's a forged crank and also likely the higher compression engine. Congratulations. It's a boy. lol

    Quarter Mile Gear Selection

My 2 cents says to use the lowest numerical gear set you think the engine will pull. But I'm pretty conservative. I don't like spinnin stuff to the moon, because I'm always on a budget and if I blow something all to pieces, it's gonna be a long time comin before I can build something else. Plus...

Me too, but I've never seen a spread this big. Maybe in a **** movie. lol We've seen it now though, because that's the correct engine for the car.

    1972 Demon with 71 340 casting

Maybe the higher compression engine. You need to see what the build date is. As I mentioned above, the changeover to the cast cranks and lower compression began "about" April 1972. All the rest of the 72 engines from there and the 73s had cast cranks and lower compression, so yours may still...
