    From the beginning of time, everyone I have ever known with any smarts has always, always, ALWAYS said Carburetor FIRST and then timing. Then usually zoom in on the carburetor after that. That's how I've done it a very long time and it's always worked well. Different folks do different stuff...

    If it's a 69 car with a 71 carburetor? If the date code reads like Murray was talkin about. Also the SA suffix like HemiSSDart said. The SA is aftermarket, like the old Carter Competition carburetors.

    You sure? Looking at the torx to hex conversion chart I get 9/32". That's closer to 5/16" ain't it? The threads are 3/8 x 16 though.

    I got my rear floorpans from Auto Body Specialties. They were heavy gage metal and fit good. I have the outer driver's quarter patch panel from Layson's and it's very high quality too.     Yeah purdy much other than NOS factory, or older aftermarket like Echlin, OLD Standard Ignition, or the like, total chinkesium is all we got. That's why I hawk ebay for older NOS stuff.

    Right. Used to be you could just bust off a new engine and basically let it idle. Nothing ever happened. Maybe rev it hard once or twice to sling oil everywhere and you were on the road.
