No prep Kings screws the pooch in Texas

Ran the 7.0 index once. Would have run it again, but when you “register” at the track, they tell you, this is NOT A RACE. It is a TV show. I got paired with a guy through their chip draw, was told you MUST race the car you draw. If you don’t, you lose. Sitting behind the burnout box and they...

    727 shifting in drag race??

With a RMVB you have full pressure shifts every time. Rolling along at idle and shift….bang….

55, and have been running the car for 16 years. Not burned out, but will probably branch out a bit. Drag and drive other stuff.

Oil Rings, do I have a problem?

Pig mat is oil absorbent mat. No making fun of my art work! I can get a picture tonight. A 90 deg lip on the front then 3-4”s back leaving about 1” between it and the “bellhousing” for the pig mat. I melt 2 holes through the mat and place the bolts for the cover through the holes. I actually...

    Roller lifter conversation

The problem is the chamfer on the lifter bore is wildly all over the place. Some deep, some not. It could uncover the band on the base circle also. The worn bores are what they are. A bunch of oil pressure is lost there. You can measure how worn they are then decide if it is acceptable. You...

340/420 90psi Oil Pressure During Prime

With a drill you are spinning the pump pretty fast. 3000 rpm on the drill is 6000 rpm while running.

340/420 90psi Oil Pressure During Prime

If it is a new build, never run before you should see puddles on top of the head. Don’t panic if you don’t. If it is dry, you will want to pull the distributor and prime it again while slowly turning the engine over by hand. It will, at some point line the oil holes up and oil should flow to the...

Oil Rings, do I have a problem?

I wouldn’t worry about the oil. Oil will settle in the bores when upside down and can seep by. I hope that your seal leak is fixed. Something I have come to grips with, is I have done the chase the rear seal leak WAY too many times. I have gone a different route for a while now. If it is the...

Four Link Suspension, how does it work?

A 4 link allows you to change your instant center. Changing the instant center allows you to tailor how hard the car tries to throw the rear axle down and separate. You do need to know what it currently does. To help visualize, the instant center on a pure leaf spring car is the front spring...

360 stalls on deceleration from throttle blip

It’s an AVS, don’t think it is sloshing out of the vent. Just think it is uncovering the jet. For a hot minute I thought about putting the BIG front torsion bars and sway bars back in it and trying a solo event for the hell of it, but would need to solve that issue. Actually now I don’t have...

I removed it and bought 1/8” phenolic sheet. The sheet rests on the china walls and takes the place on the cork gaskets. RTV both sides on the china walks.

CNC Mill Mark Removal in Intake Port

I appreciate your efforts. A wet flow runner needs help keeping or returning raw fuel to an atomized state. The worse the runner, the more help you need to avoid having raw fuel run down into the port. Total CFM flow being effected by surface finish would be incredibly small if any. Quality of...

    rear tires unloading

I would tighten the front shocks extension. Slow it down so it tops out softer/later. If you don’t have adjustable shocks in front, you can lower the ride height. Which makes it travel farther, taking longer. If you can’t, is the car throwing the rear axle down HARD? You might slow that down by...

Question: What is the Best timing chain setup LA or Magnum

Been so long,I don’t remember, I think the chain is THE priority when you choose a set. Nice that we can fit a bunch of stroke in the block. Downside is long chain due to cam to crank centerline distance.

    Stroker 340>416 Build Advice

I’m running low 11’s through a 2.5” full exhaust system. Muffler choice was pretty important, 2/10’s improvement going to a Pypes Racepro’s The headers? I have no idea which would be better. I run manifolds.

Question: What is the Best timing chain setup LA or Magnum

Years ago I went through this, decided to go with the tensioner. A couple of years later, I was in the motor again and the tensioner shoe was broken, the flat spring was trying to eat its way through the cover. Only Rollmaster and no tensioner for me from then on. You will get smart people with...

    NHRA BO29 information from 1968

I definitely defer to anyone who had one, but I’m pretty sure every state would be different on registering one. I have read the motor vehicle standards for 1968 and there is no standard that they don’t meet. There were not that many standards then. The reason given for their not being legal in...

    F.A.S.T at Empire Dragway 5/24/24-5/26/24

I had a very slim chance against this Hemi Road Runner. It is usually MUCH quicker, but it had a temp hemi in it. I cut an .035 and spun at the hit and had to pedal. to his .08? Which was all he had to do to drive out of my life. :)
