that OG block might not be around for long if you're slangin' them TRW anvils 'round with stock rods north of 100+ times a second. the better ring packages on lighter, modern pistons can be worth a tidy bit horsepower, too.

not to say that ford stuff doesn't work, but given the state of affairs i wouldn't even bother attempting to rebuild it. besides the fact that it's off of an unknown application so who knows what the porportioning is on that. you'd be much better off with something like this...

Bolts are 0.300" shorter?? That is 3/10 ths of an inch, that is huge. That would be 1/2 to a 1/3 of the available thread engagement that is missing. That means the threads that are engaged are taking much more of the load than designed for & could cause bore distortion.

these three look sus af to me how do they look on a completely flat surface? and the corresponding lobes? the ones to the left of 2 & 3 and the one to the right of 3 look a little interesting as well, but i can't tell if that's just schmutz from the pic.

The head bolts are not bottoming out, they're actually .300" shorter.

Checked the ARP against the OEM. The ARP's are .300" shorter than OEM. I ran them up to 95ft# per the instructions.

If it detonated badly enough, I can certainly see it takin out both gaskets.

What did u torque the head bolts too? Did u use the arp lube? Did u chase the bolt holes in the block with a bottoming tap? Kim

If you find a used one, they make rebuild kits for them. Don’t buy new they’re known to leak.
