    Vibration 45-50

It’s super rare that a trans causes vibration. You can test that by simply pushing the clutch in. If I was driving your car I could tell you exactly where the vibration is coming from, as I made a living diagnosing and fixing such problems for a large shop. Diagnosing via description over text...

    Vibration 45-50

When I start looking for a vibration the first thing I do is put the rear on stands and duplicate the speed. If it’s still there I pull the tires and test again. Then put the front tires on the back and test again. This mostly eliminates tires as the problem. This assumes the vibration is not...

    Which transmission.

Yea, I would say Dex is a good guess to not mix fluids. These TF type transmissions will run just fine on used french fry oil. :D

    904 swap

In order to swap tail shafts you have to remove everything in the transmission. Might as well put new stuff back in.
  6. TrailBeast

    Which transmission.

The new fluids are not necessary. Personally I run type F and have in every 904 or 727 as well as my 42rh. But you can run whatever makes you happy.

How important is 1psi of fuel pressure?

Higher pressure will cause the needle to close ever so slightly later. But not anywhere near enough to make any difference in the tune.

Strange behaving power steering pump, or is it the box..?

With working parts I have never had to bleed or anything else. Either everything worked fine, or there was a bad part involved. In this case I would be pulling the pressure side off the steering box and checking for flow. No shutting the engine off needed. It should empty the reservoir in about...

    Power steering help

You know, if you quote someone they get a notification that there is new info or posts. There are two bolts in that bracket to the block and one to a water pump bolt.

any ideas what this wire is for

It’s connected to the hot side of the relay so it’s hot all the time in the cabin. It’s not a factory wire, so it may very well be from the old ignition system. If I’m not mistaken the MSD requires a constant hot wire and keyed power both. There are other aftermarket add ons that require a...

Flex plate bolts witness marks on torque converter

Just so you know Steve, I have seen a lot of converters with witness marks like that and it never adversely affected the converter in any of those cases.

383 knock goes away on warmup

Loose converter bolts often sound just like a knock, and can also quiet down when warmed up. The sound can also go away under load. It would be worth checking.

FAIL right out of the package.

Oh I’m actually expecting that line. I’ll be surprised if they send me a new one, but I have basically written off my 80 bucks already. Believe it or not 80 was fairly low compared to most places. Thats why I got it from Holley. Yea you could get one from Walmart or whatever, but who knows...

    UTG vs DDG

I’ll tell y’all one thing about that video. It was more interesting watching these guys go slow and break **** than watching a close race at 125mph between multi hundred thousand dollar cars.

    Kickdown issue

I don’t have a lot of confidence in the trans guy if he thinks the only solution is lengthening the rod. A&A trans makes different governor weights that they recommend when the car owner tells them what the trans is currently doing, but personally I think the PT kick down will handle it just fine.

    Kickdown issue

Haven’t seen that one specifically, but yes that is the idea. It’s an add on to the valve bodies that don’t have it and is really easy to add. I added one when I had the 904 in my Dart and it was night and day difference for kick down.

You might want to grab a pic of the part throttle kd assembly so you know what it looks like, if you don’t already.

    Wheel lug hack.

Yep, there is a learning curve about where to place your prybar/tire iron, but when you get it right you can even rotate the tire a little when needed.

    Kickdown issue

The non existent part throttle kick down is what I was thinking as well.

    Owner hoping for 50k?

At some point in the video they mentioned the motor was 70. That car is definitely a mid to late 70’s car. 74 I’m thinking.
