Trying to figure out what this is it came out of my 64 barracuda 318 4 speed

Yes, if you use the slip joint main shaft and extension housing. You can also get a conversion driveshaft to replace the ball and trunnion u-joint which uses (I think) a Chevy truck type bolt on flange with a slip spline the goes into it.

Trying to figure out what this is it came out of my 64 barracuda 318 4 speed

Second gear in the OD trans is 1.67. Second gear in the non-OD 4-speed with the 3.09 gear is 1.92. Not nearly so much rpm drop from first to second in the non-OD 3.09 trans as in the OD trans.

Changing crankshaft bearings with the engine in the car.

Those look just like the cam bearings in the Hemi Charger Dad gave me (back in 1983) after he dropped a valve and drove it for five miles, embedding the valve head in the piston and knocking a hole in the head. Cam was fine. So were the crank and rods. Don't know if the condition of the cam...

What type of dart do I have?

In the summer of 68, I was looking for a car to drive to college. One of the cars I found was a 67 Barracuda fastback with a 273 2-barrel and 4 speed. I passed on it and bought my 65 Barracuda non-S with a Commando 273 and 4-speed (also rally suspension with front sway bar, but 13 inch...

What type of dart do I have?

    I swapped out the original 7 1/4 in my 65 Barracuda for an 8 3/4 in 70 or 71.

Trying to figure out what this is it came out of my 64 barracuda 318 4 speed

Yeah, that's what I've run in my 65 Barracuda most of its life. Ran a 2.66 low gear trans for a couple of years and with 3.23 gears it was just awful. Went back to the 3.09 low gearset as soon as I figured out it would fit in a later case with the slip yoke main shaft and extension housing.

YouTube style wreck while leaving a car show in my town.

...pointed. Anyway, I see lots of videos of people deliberately spinning their tires and they don't back off soon enough when it starts fishtailing and lose control. Worst is when they give it full throttle while they're still turning. What are they proving? That they don't know s%$*t...

    65 Barracuda.....what does this booster do ?

Here's a picture of my 65 Barracuda's engine from 1969. Factory power drum brake car. You can just see the black box on the inner fender on the right side of the picture.

Trying to figure out what this is it came out of my 64 barracuda 318 4 speed

By the way, the weld on one of the levers on my original 273 clutch torque shaft broke after many many miles. Can't remember if that happened before or after I put the Weber clutch in. Anyway, I bought a new torque shaft from the dealer and got a welding shop to weld reinforcements onto both...

Trying to figure out what this is it came out of my 64 barracuda 318 4 speed

The original clutch disc at least for the Commando 273 was 9.5 inches, not 9 1/8. The replacement clutches for them got to be hard to get even by the early seventies; buy one from the local parts store and you got a six cylinder clutch. i went through a couple of them, got tired of the clutch...

Cooper Cobra vs BFG Ta's on 2nd gen cuda

And talking about old tires, I had a pair of 235/60/15 BF Goodriches on the front of my 64 Polara. Tread popped off the left front tire while the car was sitting in the garage. They looked brand new, but when I checked the date code and also the bill of sale, I found out they were 20 years...

Cooper Cobra vs BFG Ta's on 2nd gen cuda

I run 225/60/15 Falkens on my 63 Valiant conv. Don't remember what they cost, but they were pretty reasonable. I also run them on the front of my 67 Barracuda, with Nitto 275/60/15s on the rear. On the street or strip, I can give the Nittos full throttle from a dead stop without spinning the...

how many cars do you have?

I currently own almost all of the cars I've ever owned. What I got rid of: 1973 Duster 340, automatic PS PB and A/C. Traded if for a new 1982 Charger 2.2 (dumbest deal ever). Five years later, gave the Charger 2.2 to my stepdaughter. 1965 Valiant 100 2-dr post, originally 170 three on the...

What are y’all using for column mounted tachs?

Nice! For my 65, I ordered a tach from J.C. Whitney back in the early to mid seventies and put it in the dash where a Formula S tach would have been. No idea what brand the tach is/was, but it STILL works after all these years. (150 mph speedo is from a 71 Duster 340; I was gonna rig up the...

What are y’all using for column mounted tachs?

I used a dash cluster screw to mount an Autometer tach under the dash pad of my 67 Barracuda. Easy to see, doesn't block any gauges or interfere with the shifter like a column mount would, and it's not too hard to reach under it to turn on the windshield wipers.

Help identifying differential 65 Barracuda V8

You are reading it correctly. Also, 2.93 would be the standard gear ratio for a 65 273 2-barrel automatic.

    1965 Offenhauser 273!

I don't remember Offenhauser offering the finned cast aluminum air filter in the sixties. Not saying they didn't, but I don't remember ever seeing them. And I did pay attention. The chrome air filter is a copy of the air cleaner Ford put on some of their hi-po engines, including 289 and 390.

Help identifying differential 65 Barracuda V8

The original 7 1/4 rear in my 65 Barracuda Commando 273 4-speed lasted 90,000 miles and a lot of speed shifts. Even with a 4 barrel, you still only have 273 cubes (i.e., not a lot of torque). I'd just run the 7 1/4 for now. If it's in good shape it might outlast you. If not, well then you...

65 Barracuda bucket seat tracks/ brackets HELP!

OK, I do have the partials that would bolt on to what you have. Decent shape. I have a (I think reasonable) price in mind, but won't post it here (I think that would be against the rules). PM me if you're interested.

65 Barracuda bucket seat tracks/ brackets HELP!

Your seats are definitely 65 (or 64). And it looks to me like the brackets you have are also correct for those years - just missing the bottom pieces. I might have them in the attic of my garage. If you haven't found some by tomorrow morning, I will climb up there and take a look.

    Cooling Issue - 1964 Dart GT - 273 with automatic and A/C

Two things: 1. Get an aftermarket mechanical temperature gauge. Can't tell s$&t from the factory gauge. 2. Someone mentioned this early on, but haven't heard anything since - knock the freeze plugs out and flush out the block. Get those two things squared away and if you still have a...
