What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

After spending most of my spare time working on my new engine build, I finally pulled the car out of the garage yesterday and gave it a bath. Today was a car cruise at the engine shop honouring my buddy who used to build my engines who passed away several years ago. The were several A bodies...

    Nicks Garage 383 build

There is no doubt that the dyno carb was very rich, and if I was just after horsepower numbers, changing jets or air bleeds would have definitely improved things, but my main goal was dialing in my own carb.

    Nicks Garage 383 build

I had a friend with a 78 Corvette. He had the shop rebuild his engine with a good bottom end, and I helped spec the cam. It all looked good on paper, but it was a dog, the stock heads were the bottleneck. He bought some aftermarket iron heads, and I helped install them. After it was done it...

Yes and old set of 1 3/4 headers, complete with several dings and dents. I only have pictures on my phone, but I will post the dyno sheet when I get home.

    Nicks Garage 383 build

I just came home from dynoing my stock stroke 400. The specs are 8.5:1 compression, pocket ported 346 heads, Weiand dual plane intake, Summit 6400 cam (214/224 duration and 444/466 lift). I was trying to concentrate on low end torque to move a 4200 pound 1966 Charger with 2.94 gears. With the...

    Nicks Garage 383 build

I am currently building a stock stroke 400, and I did quite a bit of research before choosing components. I had read a Steve Dulcich article from 2002 where he built and dynoed a 383 as close to stock specs as possible. I was pretty sure it made the horsepower, but I was surprised when I...

I made one for the Charger as well. Yours turned out better though. I would absolutely check the heads, but I'm kind of OCD that way.

I Need Engine Experts! 340 Roller Lifter and Pushrod Issue

Correct me if I'm wrong Hawk, but 1.6 rockers would move the pushrod cup closer to the rocker shaft and improve the pushrod angle at least marginally. It might even improve the pushrod clearance in the head.

If he's got a bog as it is, I don't think the tires need to be stickier.

That might explain the lack of rust.

Wow, not wasting any time I see. The frame rail looks nice and clean. Yes the hoist helps immensely. Is Stubble going to lose part of its floor?

The head gasket is what I figured, but that still doesn't explain the high number in number 8

The others are so close, they are either all good or the rings are all worn out .

    Ailing engine (Updated after teardown)

Pulses in the blowby almost seem like it is just one cylinder, maybe a blown head gasket at number 6. Number 8 is confusing though. Was compression that high when fresh?

    cleaning up after mouse infestation

I had evidence of mouse and/or chipmunk activity in my car. I vacuumed all the carpets and noticed stuff blowing out of the heater ducts on start up. I pulled the blower motor and found this. While it was out, I reached in with a long extension on my shop vac and vacuumed out the heater box.

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

It wouldn't clear the engine cart. You just need to loosen it and turn it back to the correct position. You might need a new gasket.
