how much was it used? used motor sitting for 18 years is a core to me. thousand bucks max, being everything about it is unknown. for all the buyer knows it needs everything.

i've seen that some of the welds on those pans need slag cleaned up before use. not a big deal but something to check

wasn't the part number also stamped on the rear of the engine? behind the dist where the bell housing bolts up.

so i was out in the shed today and found this cam/lifter set new in the box. forgot i had it. picked it up with a 360 package a couple years ago. is this what the 340's came with? from what i understand it will be out of gas at about 5000rpm.. this correct? if this is a stock 340 cam...

i agree. plenty of fast 360 motors out there and they never had a steel crank. for what I'm doing I don't need it to be steel.

i picked the motor up tonight. as longs as i measured right its std bore. the rods with no pistons are the original rods. the pistons and rods the seller got from a friend. steel crank drilled for a pilot bearing.. got a windage tray, oil pan and timing cover with it. now i just have...

so this is for sale near me. was thinking about maybe picking it up if the price is right. so he says its a 1972 340 engine out of a 1972 Barracuda.. not sure if that's true or not but I'll post a vin pic. do those look like the early pistons? i thought by 72 they were lower compression...

that described my tti header experience pretty well.. plenty of ground clearance, easy to get to plugs, starter was easy to get out and they didn't get in the way of any steering..
