1968 Dodge Dart GT Sleeping Beauty?

I ran it for about 30-40 minutes. The temperature gauge slowly creeped up. Drove home when it went to the night side. It still was in the OK range. I ordered a fan spacer to see if that will have an effect.

1968 Dodge Dart GT Sleeping Beauty?

Friday I took the Dart to Chads shop. We drove it and it ran pretty darn good. You could hear the noise. We narrowed it to the universal joints or the rear. He was going to get it on his lift. Any load made the noise go away. Definitely I also have a venting issue in the tank that needs to be...

1968 Dodge Dart GT Sleeping Beauty?

Definitely a rotating noise. Pinion or universal joints. Load takes away the sound. It will come apart this weekend. Road test, it ran fine. Vent in filler neck seems to be clogged. One lifter making a small noise. Light at the end of the tunnel may be a train. Hope not.

1968 Dodge Dart GT Sleeping Beauty?

Ran the Dart on Engine Stands. Ran it in gear. No noise? 92 year old dad is pointing to the universal joints. As good a guess as I have. No noise from the rear or suspect brake drum. I hope to get it back on the road and have an extra set of ears listening. Being under a load can replicate the...

1968 Dodge Dart GT Sleeping Beauty?

To my engine builder Chad I got tags and license on it today. Took it for a drive. It runs really well handles nice a little bit of rub on some of the tight turns. My only issue is is there is a noise like almost in a break drum or a universal joint or after kind of jacking it up maybe the yolk...

1968 Dodge Dart GT Sleeping Beauty?

Hood to Cowl Gasket. Hard to see but you have to push the clips into the rubber and then bend the clips over. I added 3M weather strip/gasket sealant to secure them better. Template. I sliced the old gasket to locate. Clip without 3M sealant. I used the old hood to cowl seal to locate the...

1968 Dodge Dart GT Sleeping Beauty?

71 today. I have been waiting to get the temperature up and heat the glass. I used CRL and a power caulk gun. I was able to cut a small nozzle. If it was a manual gun, I would be worn out and it would be much messier. I will let it skim dry and then remove the tape. It remains pliable. Then the...

Picked up the hood from the painter. No way I could’ve installed it by myself. I took it off by myself, which was also a mistake. It has dust from being in storage. Need front hood trim installed. Nice to have all the panels on the car for the first time.

1987 Registration Sticker is back on the Dart. It sat in a garage for 38 years in NJ. For a 58 year old car it deserves its New Jersey heritage to be on display. I will get Virginia vintage tags and just keep them in the car in case I get stopped.

Sat the new headlight surrounds in place. Nothing like new jewelry! Off to Tony’s muffler shop first thing in the AM. Appointment set for 4 wheel alignment on the 18th. Hagerty Quote set for insurance. I am sure we will have to adjust the kick down linkage.
