    Can too large a cam kill bottom end torque in a poorly matched combo? I say yes. Depends on your definition of "kill" I guess. Drivability and acceptable torque are subjective with no definitive answer that I can tell. I don't think it is too hard to recognize a mismatched combo though.

    Doesn't seem too out of line to me. Your combo with a decent valve job and little bowl clean up on the heads should make 1hp per cube.

    As others have said, pressure test and run em. Looks like the cracks go straight from the plug boss to the valve seat.

    Hughes has a small cam specifically for the stock 5.2. Might also check with Oregon cams. Just make sure to ask both about a spring upgrade if needed.

    Great numbers from a 355. The aussie EQ mopar heads are well known for seized valves as well unless bronze liners or guides are installed. Tough way to learn about the vortech heads having a similar issue. Sorry you had to waste all that time.

    Careful Kimmer. Not long ago I got chastized from the peanut gallery for recommending using a screwdriver in similar fashion. Apparently using a stethoscope is now the only "proper" way to do it. :rolleyes:
