Butters "Winter Upgrades". . Starting a Little Early

Are you using the AC idle kick? I have a relay on my AC that goes to an input on the MS3. It will automatically add X amount of steps to the IAC when the compressor kicks on. I also have the idle advance table setup so the timing advances to keep it from killing. This hemi needs so little timing...

Butters "Winter Upgrades". . Starting a Little Early

My vote is 7" wheels all around. There are plenty of tire size calculators online that can help you dial in the right size. That D100 tow truck is awesome!!! There's some shady people selling stuff online. You better be careful.

My "new" '74 Duster- or why I need a project like a hole in the head

I got some fairly decent life out of my 660s. I think you will like them. I'm on REs now, and the grip is much better than the 660s, but I'm not sure I'd use them on a daily driver. I haven't seen how the new 660+ perform compared to the old ones, but admittedly, I haven't gone looking for that...

Lowering the rear of a 72 duster no tub

Here's a photo of my car. I have a modified offset front hanger with a higher position than a stock hanger and leaf spring sliders on the back. This is with a Hotchkis leaf spring. These are 18x10.5" wheels, no mini tub. Note, if you are running a 15" you won't be able to run a wheel this wide...

Should I make the swap to G3?

The goal when I built it was to have the firewall and fender wells completely clean of everything. It certainly adds complexity and thought to make it work. Pictures above are right after I installed it. Since I’ve ditched the corvette regulator and have a normal return style. It pained me to...

Nothing wrong with that. I have a touch of OCD when it comes to making things look neat.

Should I make the swap to G3?

Plenty of reasons to love a G3. Zero oil leaks. The engine is just as clean as it was the day I installed it. Now if I could just get the damn TKO500 to stop the occasional drip. The G3 just seems happier and smoother cruising at 70-80mph. The camshaft turns on around 3000 RPM and it revs...

Should I make the swap to G3?

I forgot about this one, but after breezing through it, I can see why. Too much BS on this thread like many other ones I have started or may participate in. For those that aren’t following along on my build thread, I ended up doing the G3 swap in the summer of summer of 2024. I used my 06 5.7...

What did you do for your MAP sensor with Terminator X?

I'm not running a Terminator, but your question is valid for almost all stand alone systems. I'm using the onboard MAP sensor for barometer and I'm using a Low Doller Motorsports MAP sensor. I threaded the hole where the factory MAP sensor went to 3/8"NPT, and installed a reducing bushing to...

63 to 66 A body tubular k frame questions who is everyone using??

I've been doing things with my HDK Denny never imagined it would do and it's been flawless. I do think a 26" tire will be too tall for an early A. If you use Denny's kit, you will have the ability to shorten the control arms to pull the tire into avoid contact with the wheel lip, but then you...

Speaking of weight. Here's the corner weights of my car. I doubt it is 100% accurate since the scales weren't on a perfectly level surface, but it's close enough. Total is 3549.

    12:05 Garage- ’70 Duster build

CAM-T does not allow wings currently, but does a allow a rear spoiler, front splitters, and even rear diffusers with some sizing constraints. There's currently an open ballot with the SCCA to vote for or against wings for CAM-T. Personally, I wish they would eliminate all aero features in the...

Brian and I won the car show.... Oh wait, there wasn't one. Side note, the new sway bar I made is exactly what this car was missing. St. Louis region hosted a test and tune session Friday with a very short course, but it was all I needed to dial in the sway bar adjustments since I haven't had a...

Fabricated A-Body spindle ideas and discussion

@DionR if you're going through all this to redesign a spindle, why not incorporate a screw in LBJ and make a divorced steering arm? Perhaps odd to have a screw in LBJ attached to the spindle, but its no different than the stock LBJ in theory.

Idle speed question and an update with some real-world stats

Mine is around 850-900PRM idle, but in all honesty, I could work on it more. BTW, I hope you lifted on that quarter mile run on the GPS, because there's no way you have 615HP and only went 109MPH. My early 5.7 with a cam and home ported heads went 114MPH in a 3500lb car.

Anyone use HP Tuners (or maybe others) and can share some maps?

Thanks! I'll compare to what I have. I am spinning mine higher than this table goes. My rev limiter is set at 6800RPM now that I have some aftermarket pushrods. I was limiting it to 6500 with the stockers. It pulls all the way to the limiter too. It is also a stock bottom end with new rings that...

Anyone use HP Tuners (or maybe others) and can share some maps?

I'd love to see a timing map for the early 5.7 if you are willing to share. My understanding is the factory ECU had two maps, one for normal driving and one for WOT. Like you, I have the old school aluminum case MS3X. I actually built it too. Pretty sure my eyes wouldn't allow me to do all that...

    Goodbye Torqstorm, hello Spoolius Ceasar

I was going to say I think the bulb may be too much of a load for the output. I guess it is. Glad you figured it out. I know yall are turbo so I assume you are using the launch control with timing ramp. I just set mine up on the clutch switch. I’m going to tune the ramp on the street so I can...

    New Coil-Over Conversion Suspension

I'm sure I'll get railed for this, but in my opinion, the spindle is the limiting factor on both torsion and CoC. This is the reason we go for the FMJ spindle and some even use taller ball joints with those. Not to mention the limitation on brake options and you are still stuck with traditional...

    New Coil-Over Conversion Suspension

These are the spindles I was referring to --> https://speedtechperformance.com/product/tall-height-ats-hot-rod-subframe-spindles/ They are approximately 1/2" taller than the Wilwood M2 spindle. Besides the height advantage, there's a ton of commercially available steering arm options for...

    New Coil-Over Conversion Suspension

And I'll add that I really like my HDK setup. And yes, I did spend a lot of time adjusting it to optimize it to my liking. I'm currently running 8+ degrees of caster and around 2 degrees of camber. I have just under a degree of camber gain in the first inch of bump and right at 1" in the second...
