    RPM drop and electric fans!

Those fans draw less than 1hp. No way they are dragging down the engine by 400 rpm. I would think something is up with your ignition system.

    Budget Build 5.9 for a 71 Scamp

Biggest thing to note: There is a bug in the summit catalog and they list 360LA rings under magnum compatible. They are not. Make sure the kit you get is 1.5, 1.5, 4mm, not 5/64.

What coil and wires to use.

Pretty much any stock type canister coil with a primary resistance of 1.4-1.5 ohms. 8mm wires are too thick for the stock wire looms, if that’s an issue.

That’s a fine carb. Bolt on and forget. I have one on a ford 289. Threw it on a few years ago and it has always run perfectly. Only ever touched it to adjust the idle mixture and speed.

Someone should drive a fairly deep regrind 300,000 miles to see if it really makes a difference. Me? I'll report back in thirty years.

    Budget Build 5.9 for a 71 Scamp

I think it’s probably mostly gone, at least off the base circle. That said, I think the concern is laughable with 1. roller lifters 2. low spring pressure 3. low rpm 4. not very aggressive profile 5. casual use application The reality is that you never hear about regrind roller failures that...

I have the 2204. Reasonably smooth idle with around 14 inches of vacuum iirc. Solid torque. Would recommend.

I think around 500-800 dollars is what you could get for it depending on condition

On my magnum the rings and main bearings were in great shape. Rod bearings were a little worn, likely from the classic plenum issue causing detonation. Cam bearings had the consistency donut icing. Completely disintegrated when I ran my finger across them. Pretty common situation on these. Good...

I think that the only requirement for joining the site should be reciting ten times that coil voltage rating and increasing plug gap do not affect spark energy.

    Carburator issue. I think

No. No no no. Everything to do with the flow of gases and fluids works according to DIFFERENCES IN PRESSURE. The absolute pressure does not affect how much fuel is metered or how much air is drawn in. Only the ratio of the pressures. At altitude, all pressures are reduced by the same factor...

Anyone tried only 8 plugs on a high compression race application?

I think you would lose a small amount of power. The emissions reason is that you get a more complete burn with two as opposed to one. More complete burn also means more energy is extracted from a given amount of fuel, so more power for a given amount of fuel injected. That said, I think that...

Disregard that guy. He's obsessed with some **** he had twenty years ago. Every thread always gets side tracked to needing 200psi compression and 4.11s. Bottom line is a mild cam will definitely wake up that motor. I have the exact same setup in my car. 5.9 magnum, stock everything with an...

almost certainly If you are tearing it all down and hot tanking the block that doesn't matter. Reminder that you will probably want to change the cam bearings (and definitely if you hot tank the block)
