Pictures of my MazdaRX8 Slant project

I believe your math is off. A iron slant is not light by any means, and if it's a stock slant, it will have about 105 hp.

    440 Rocker Arms - speedmaster

The only experience I have had with BB speedmaster stuff has been the victor knockoffs that use offset rockers. Those are a disaster. I've never used there conventional BB rockers on anything.

Who's the A body fender tag deciphering guru? Question about a car in the"For Sale" area...

Another thing of concern, the pictures from underneath dont show the torque box areas. Could be lazy picture taking or could be purposely cropped out. Who knows. There are a few other things to verify, to confirm its legit. Buyer beware! It appears to be someone's unfinished project, with "barn...

Who's the A body fender tag deciphering guru? Question about a car in the"For Sale" area...

I think its extremely obvious it's been painted underhood, and underneath, zero question about that. One thing I wondered about, is this area of the pass side inner fender. Was this a 72' up thing? I dont remember seeing that on earlier cars. Probably for the charcoal canister mounting.

Engine is pulled - 273 rebuild or replacement 360 crate?

The headers will bolt right up to the magnum heads, and the flywheel, bellhousing and all is a direct bolt up as well to the 5.2 magnum

Engine is pulled - 273 rebuild or replacement 360 crate?

Strip the parts off the 273 and throw the block in the scrap bin. The 5.2 magnum is superior in every way.

1972 Complete 318 with Matching transmission. Worth anything?

That's a $100 core in my opinion. The fact it's been "remanufactured" actually detracts from the value, because it COULD allready be .060 over.

Max bore size for a 1969 340 Block

The real issue is those blocks are over 50 years old now, and corrosion inside the water jackets eat away material over time. A sonic check is a great idea, but one small pinhole is easily overlooked even in a sonic test.

    Oil be darn

Prices look a little steep. I dont know any shop, myself included that charges anywhere near 2 grand to assemble a long block.

Cracks between head bolts and coolant passages

A 84 block will likely be cracked too. Any of those blocks from 80-88 are paper thin throw away garbage in my opinion.

Cracks between head bolts and coolant passages

It's been a long time since I looked at a bone stock rocker, but if there is a oil hole in the pushrod cup, then yes, that would be sufficient to oil the rocker. The magnum allready has oil through pushrods, so he could even just reuse the magnum cam and lifters also.

Cracks between head bolts and coolant passages

Those blocks are garbage. Thread sealer does zero for the clamp load of the cracked hole. Go to your local scrapyard and buy a $300 magnum 5.2. Way better block, you could use your LA heads on it as well

Part of the problem is I dont really know what the ford and chevy combos will be, so i really dont have a benchmark to compare to. I do know the ford that ran last year wasn't legal, but i believe it was allowed to run because it's the only ford that showed up. It failed on the dyno however, dnf

Keep in mind, the guy (Greg) who puts on this event,( and runs the dyno) has a engine in the contest also. It won last year, and it's pretty scienced out. Dart block, all good high end aftermarket stuff, EFI, coil on plug ignition, ect. The rules definitely give ford and chevy some advantages...
