Salted sand, dumped on centerline of highway. Really bad. The purpose of salt is to break the bond of ice to road surface so it can be cleared off the roads. But they leave it. In real cold weather with blowing snow, salt causes snow to stick to roadway. Then it creates a real hazard.

I think a diesel heater may run cheaper. At least here. $12 for pellets vs maybe a gallon of diesel.15 litres of diesel is $23.

Real cold tonight, -21°c. Pellet stove is keeping up, burning more pellets though. Glad i built the hopper extension, i’d be filling it 2x a day otherwise. Didnt realize it when i bought it, i would have bought a less fancy one to get the 120 lb capacity.

Morning! -10, cold enough. Furnace not running and pellet stove is doing a fantastic job. I opened furnace to discover a wire burned off one element. So i will pull element, make sure its ok before i replace wire. Heavier gauge and heavy duty terminals may prevent it happening again. Spade...

Had to shut er down. Got oil dropped, filter replaced and front end greased. Fixed loose sway bar and got one fender liner in. Two tires rotated. Ran out of steam, and the 300 foot walk home was slow. Truck can stay inside overnight.

Started reviewing the work i have/want to do. About 8 projects. Some are work for money, others are my bucket list. At my present pace, i need another 20 years. Just the few little things i want to do on my avalanche is probably 2 days. I need a coffee. Time to trudge across driveway.

Thanks! Im thinking its a wire to one of the elements. Motor runs perfect without any noise. Both elements were new last year, its a 10k electric furnace.

interesting evening, heavy smoke smell coming from my furnace ducts. Shut it off and turned pellet stove up another notch. I guess im shopping for a new furnace.

Morning! -10° light snow. Its not adding up to much. Down day yeasterday, today smells about the same. I need not worry, all the stuff i want to do, wont get done anyway. Things i need to figure out, gas tank for plow truck is priority.

Diesel heater. Cheap to run, lots of heat. Im still testing mine, but im at 7 litres and 10 hours run time. Its a supplement, and im running it just for experiment.
