Went and made up the transmission cooler lines for the Firebird. And brought all my tools home. When body is off Stude, i can do all the brake lines with ease. Two weeks away if im lucky.

Just run 3/8 lines to a good aftermarket trans cooler and forget connecting to the radiator at all. 65'

Can always do the transfusion thing dropping one of the trans cooler lines to flush the converter out. One gallon out > one gallon back in, Repeat. ☆☆☆☆☆

Back at gas station again. I had to add a cooler for PS system. Was losing assist when system heat soaked. After adding cooler i see 134 degrees out of box and 116 degrees into pump. Cooler sees 100 degrees in and 95 degrees out. 40 minute drive curvy country roads steering is working...

1965 Barracuda 273 with 904. One of the cooler lines have been compressed between the starter and steering, so I guess I have restricted coolant flow. Needless to say, I need to replace that line. I have measured the OD to be 5/16 on the tube. I guess ID will be approx 3/8? Can I use 3/8 copper...

why not loop the two transmission lines together at the rad with a hose and clamps , that way it bypasses the rad cooler and no fluid is lost.

...a machined nose in addition to the different spline count. One thing I forgot to mention, the case has the smaller cooler line ports for 5/16 cooler lines, not the bigger ports for 3/8 line that lockups used. Doubt that anyone would have gone to the trouble of REDUCING the cooler line size...

Maybe it overcomplicates routing transmission cooler lines?

yea i was looking into inline also seems legit. But what size are the trans cooler lines usually i see one that says 5/16 and the other says like 1/8th?

It would be better with 3/8" lines, but you could probably get by just fine with the 5/16" lines. Just make sure to use a large aftermarket trans cooler. Heat is the enemy more than line size in my opinion. Tom

Doesn’t the TRX adapter have fittings for oil cooler lines? I thought about use that adapter just for the oil cooler option.

Spent the morning going over the 67 Firebird convertible. Electrical, fuel lines, brake lines, transmission cooler lines. Lots to do to get it running and moving. He bought a complete running original powertrain, rad to tailpipe. Engine and transmission were rebuilt and hardly driven.

Sorry, I plumbed the filter and cooler back into the system just as it was to begin with. At that point my pressure was 75+ for about 5 miles, then fell back down to 55-60. I did not pull the motor yet. Just switched oil lines around

Looped my oil lines and found 20psi. Seeing 75 at 5k rpm. Now I just have to narrow it down between the filter/housing and oil cooler. Might still pull the motor to check everything out, but at least I have direction now.

Oops…. Forgot I need to top off the trans fluid. I redid the trans cooler lines while I was waiting on the heads and lost about 3 quarts. Guess what else I can’t find although I can’t remember if I had any…. lol

Are the 904 transmission cooler lines for a 72 Dart slant six the same for a small block? Planning to do a swap and wondering if I need to replace the trans lines. They seem to be different part numbers at Mancini Racing. Thx.
