Sorry, but what is a "Contour Setup? I don't really see much in this picture.

    Anyone use these electric fans?

I'm not a big electric fan supporter but the Contour set up is what I would use on my 340. I just don't want to stray from stock appearance.

Also a very capable fan used in a lot of hot rods and electric fan conversions. It fits a 22” radiator though, whereas the Contour set up fits a 26” radiator.

'70 Dart 392 Project; what direction?

I run a Champion radiator with a Ford Contour V6 duel electric fan that is almost a perfect fit for a 26" radiator. I also included a picture of the 2005 RAM 2500 5.7 manual starter that I use next to a typical mini-starter. Hope that helps.

    Anyone use these electric fans?

...I'm not sure about the speeds, to be honest, I was just intrigued at the chance to get a set of fans that would be close in size to the 26" radiator for only $40 (I talked him down a bit). I guess the Contour fans are equal in size instead of staggered, though... The Contour fans for...

    Anyone use these electric fans?

Is that for the Contour fans or the VW? The Contour fans are the same left/right and should have 2 ratings per side since there's a low and high speed.

    Anyone use these electric fans?

It’s just the OE dual electric fans from a 1995-2000 Ford Contour v6. Same fans and install information I posted above in post 14. Tried and true, OE designed electric fans designed to last 100k miles plus. And yeah, $150 for a 2 speed, dual electric fan set up that flows ~3000 CFM on low...

    Electric fans?

Anyone have real world experience with the Mercedes c class monster fan pulse width modulated on a 26in radiator compared to the ford contour two speed dual fans?

    Anyone use these electric fans?

Just out of curiosity, do you know if your fans are turning off when you are at speed? Have you ever tried running at speed with the fans disconnected? That would ease my mind that the fan housing / shroud is not restricting flow.

    Anyone use these electric fans?

...There are a lot of really expensive fans that don’t flow 2,500+ CFM, which means they won’t be up to the task of keeping one of these cars cool as a standalone fan. The Ford Contour fans can be bought for under $150, and with the proper relays and controller are more than capable of doing...

    Anyone use these electric fans?

Excellent point. I actually worded that poorly. Thanks for pointing that out. Here is what really happened. About 20 years ago I needed a new radiator. After a lot of research, I went with a Griffin Radiator. The salesman talked me into their custom built fan/shroud setup also. It was rather...

    Anyone use these electric fans?

...Maybe in a colder climate, or for a car that never sees traffic etc it might be ok, but it certainly wouldn’t hold up to getting stuck in traffic in 100°+ weather. My cheap reproduction Contour fans managed that easily. But they flow 3k CFM on the low speed, and close to 5k CFM on the high speed.

    Anyone use these electric fans?

I don't really know what the CFM rating was. It's been a long time. But I bet you are right in saying I probably didn't have enough. Griffin does make a good radiator, but I did not care for the fan setup.

    Anyone use these electric fans?

That was my first choice based on what I've seen here, but those cars are nowhere to be found in local yards, and since I'm just toying of the idea to use electric fans I don't really want to spend "new price money" for one. I have a clutch fan I picked up for a song, but finding a 26" shroud is...

    Anyone use these electric fans?

I just contacted Dorman after seeing a negative review on YouTube from one of the Mustang guys, and the specs from Dorman tech Nicholas Paris are: The Left side fan is 1007 cfm The right is 1114cfm They both draw 5.8amp each Looks to be 1 amp rating _______________________________ So it...

    Electric fans and shroud recommendations

No. Not unless you’re planning on removing them from their full shroud and custom mounting them. This is the complete Contour fan set up, it's all integrated. Mounting it as a pusher would mean the shroud would block a significant amount of the incoming air.

    What’s everyone’s cooling setup?

...w/ mechanical water pump and overall performance. I’m thinking of going with the Champion 26” 3 row w/fans and shroud but need to dig deeper into depth of the assembly (engine is not in car yet). Champion-CC374B-374FS12SP But I also see a lot of guys running the Ford Contour fan as well.

...much tighter and modern grilles are frequently smaller, so, the fan requirements are typically higher for a modern engine even if the displacement is much smalller. The Ford Contour fans are a good example, they’re for a 2.5l V6. But I’ve never had an issue with them cooling my 400+ hp 5.6l...

    Electric fans and shroud recommendations

All I'm going to say is my Contour fan and 26" 3 row champion radiator doesn't even need the high speed mode on the Contour fan at all. Sub-$300 cooling system working perfect for over 9 years now.

    Electric fans and shroud recommendations

Can these contour fans be placed in front of the radiator and used as a pusher? I need a real good electric fan setup in front of the radiator. My 671 blower belt/and pulleys won’t allow anything in front of it as far as fans go. There’s just no room. I got 2” to play with. Lol. So in front of...

...literally no way that would work. It’s even a 22” radiator. I think when I bought my Champion 26” 3 core, the Dorman knock off of the Contour fans, and my fancy digital fan controller I was in it for under $600. The fans are still only $143. There are a lot of really expensive electric fans...

    What’s everyone’s cooling setup?

I’ve tried the Contour fans, a large Derale electric fan and ultimately I went mechanical on mine. The electric fans worked ok. The Contour fans blocked airflow on the freeway so she ran a little warmer than I was comfortable with on the longer runs in the summer. The single fan didn’t cover...

    What’s everyone’s cooling setup?

That is also my experience with my 451 (26" 3-row aluminum radiator and Contour fans with an Autocoolguy PWM controller). It will idle in 95F traffic or standstill and maintain 183 all day. But at 65 mph (3300 rpm) it very slowly creeps up to 198 over about 20-30 minutes. If I hold it down to...

    Coolant flow

No ****. LOL. Not sure you realize what vehicle I have? An A100. Engine under a dog house. 18x18 FSR radiator is all I could find that fit in the tight confines. And that fan was all I could find to fit the rad. It was a 2-speed, had it wired on high. I can’t recall the exact cfm. Beating a...
