How much trouble am I in?

I had something similar like 25 years ago. Had a neighbor who worked in the transformer industry. He knew all about oil. My oil was milky too. He told me he could tell there was like a tablespoon of water in the oil. That’s all it takes. I say change the oil and see if it does it again. I think...

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

You and I disagree on very little. It’s just the cause and effect part where we differ. I would assume that anyone who starts to modify the oil passages already knows the basics like inlet and pan etc. This isn’t done for a daily driver. I am not a follower. Never done the crossover thing. I...

I am not going to get into your oil timing. I addressed that to you 3 years ago and you have Sanborns notes. Slotting the bearing shells and the bearing saddle fixes that. If you can’t understand the velocity issue, you won’t understand what slotting those bearings is doing either.

All I can say is what Jada said. It is beyond you to understand. You understand how to correct the problem. You understand the leaks at the lifters being a problem. You don’t understand the why. And I don’t know how else to explain it to you. Yes Glidden was a mortal man. The true test of any...

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

The Chev does not have the velocity problem because it has 3 dedicated galleys. All 3 of them are plugged at the end of the run. The chev does not share valvetrain and lifter oiling with the crankshaft oiling. The Chrysler due to its design, tries to oil 16 lifters. The drivers side galley gets...

Show me another way to feed the drivers side.

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

Both of these mods are designed to cut or restrict oil to the lifters. That’s a given. No argument from me there. There is just more than one way to do it. I agree with you that installing a crossover tube and nothing else is not effective. I took the time to email you Sanborns notes. Please...

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

In your last paragraph you say the front oil boss is for dry sump. Yes you could use it that way, if class rules allow. You say that in front oiling, that all the oil is from one feed, unless you pull the oil off before it gets to the main. Well you have Sanborns notes. You pull the feed out of...

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

Velocity is just another word for excessive flow or speed if you will. The crossover line does supply oil to the other side and if done right only slows the oil at #3&4 main, the majority of the speed is killed by the front setscrew. When you tube the passenger galley, it cuts the leaks to the...

lol, I have often wondered about this lol.

Why do you think Chrysler designed front oiling bosses right into the casting of the “X” and “R” blocks if they thought it was not beneficial. The guy made you a simple drawing which is representative of the small block and asked you to explain why you are saying two columns of oil won’t flow...

There’s a washer or a flange on the bolt in the pic. That’s not the right bolts. Too thick.

    low gearset 904?

The planetary gear is unique to the low gear set as well. The bigger diameter at the bottom of the pic is what is different.

Agreed, I have dealt with this company.

    Strip Dominator and M1

I think the strip dominator was on the market from Holley well before the M1. I always thought the m1 was a clone or refinement of the strip. I bought a w2 Strip dominator in the late 80,s when it and the dual tunnel ram were the only good intake for those heads back then. Kind of like the w5...

I have to agree. And how much oil pressure is at #1 main that is trying to feed a cam bearing and 8 lifters with a 9/32 oil passage.

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

If a guy put in a crossover tube and nothing else, then the modification was not done right and it’s not effective. I give Rapid Robert credit because it sounds like he is trying to do it right and he knew enough to ask about the angles of the fitting. That mod has been around so long, that some...

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

When you push the brake pedal on your car, after the pads hit the rotor you have pressure, but no flow because it’s a sealed system. An engine is not totally sealed. Because it is not sealed and the leaks are not uniformly distributed you can have lots of flow(velocity) in some areas and very...

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

So you decided to write a book post of what he should do but just the other day you jumped on me about reverse feeding number one main. You told him to plug number one. Ok, then how is that bearing getting its oil. And what else do you think that plug at the front of the galley is doing. It cuts...

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

Wrong! The first goal is to stop feeding the drivers side lifters off of number 1 main. No matter if you do the tubing of the drivers side galley or the crossover. Both mods require a set screw at the front of the galley Or in the bearing saddle to stop the flow to the lifters. That set screw is...

I was going to post a drawing like that. It shows how ridiculous his understanding of hydraulics is. According to him, the oil will just sit in the galley going nowhere with 80psi pressure on both ends and not flow to the 4 leaks in the tube. He also denies that if you take away the front feed...

Read what I wrote. We are not in agreement. It has everything to do with bearing life.

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

I am not making your point. If his class rules required oil at the lifters, and you bushed lifter bores, you could restrict flow to your discretion with the bushing and leave the stocking method of oiling off #1 main as is. Sanborn claims this fails #1 main. Just as you spoke about those old...
