check the clearance on your thrust bearing. Make sure you are not on the ragged edge as far as clearance between the drive pinion and the back of the crank. As temps go up , linear expansion may cause the clearance to be reduced and tighten up trans. also fry thrust bearing. been there done...

Look for machining marks in each cap. there are nuances that will give you an indication of which cap came from which side. It is never a good idea to switch side to side regardless of what some get away with. caps are supposed to be marked upon removal. just cuz the factory bean counter saved...

a good 340 can rev to 7500. combine that with a stock flywheel and you have good chance of catastrophic event with stock bellhousing. No way would I use a stock bell with anything that has the potential to rpm. a billet flywheel and scattershield and let it fly. sleep easy. $$$$$$ foget...
