How far in the hole 318 pistons

I've never measured "down in the hole" height, but my favorite combination is a 1968 or 1969 shortblock, which had an advertised CR of 9.25:1 with open chamber heads, floating pins, and lighter weight rods than 71 up teens. Add a pair of the 302 casting heads, or a pair of 1967 273 or 318 heads...

Ouch! Ever try Goodys headache powder? I hate the taste and the process, but it works FAST

Paint it, Clear it or Let It Rip?

Yes! I've done this for 30 years, but I'm cheap and just put a dab of RTV about three quarters of the way up from the bottom of the bolt. Nothing down where it counts on the threads as far as torque, but low enough that when the bolt rotates through the hole in the intake, it gets a good little...

    [WANTED] Bench seat

I'll double check tomorrow and confirm if it has the armrest, and get some pics if it does. I'm in the middle of PA, little town of Woodward

A buddy of mine has a 28 A Tudor. It's not unusual for it to get a few hundred miles on it any weekend that the weather is decent.

71 Swinger. Drag car since 1976. Was an ultra low budget car. Extensively gutted. Full Lexan. Cage. Mini tubs. Putting it on the street, so swapping doors for ones that haven't been cut so extensively that they won't accept stock glass. Going back to all stock glass. Quarters were cut to clear a...

    [WANTED] Bench seat

I have a green with Houndstooth cloth insert bench from a 72 Swinger. Pretty sure it has the armrest in the center, but I'd have to put eyes on it to confirm.

    Small Block's

70 Charger is fairly heavy. Depending on gearing, driver ability, and an infinite list of variables, lighter cars with just as much horsepower as a Hemi often ran mid to high 14s. Read some old magazine tests from back when the cars were new if you want some enlightenment.

How far in the hole 318 pistons

If you really want to find true compression ratio, you need to cc the combustion chambers and find the downfill volume of the cylinders. Production machining tolerances were sometimes very........ "tolerant", lol. Do a Google search on "half inch downfill volume of a cylinder" if you are...

Driving a sick engine and oddly enjoying it.

As a teenager, I worked at a local salvage yard. The owner had a daytime job working for the state, and the yard was open evenings from 430 to 830. Anyway, we got a 75 or 76 Valiant in once with a 225 with a rod knock. The car had a little more than three quarters of a tank of fuel. The yard...

DOHC Hemi heads for the 340, and internals capable of 10,000 rpm. You can't tell me that wouldn't be a fun thing to play with.

Maybe I'm just getting soft and spoiled. Thirty years ago, I would have probably been laying on my back under a Mopar, lowering a Torqueflite onto my chest before sliding it off of me, rolling out from under the car, and then dragging the trans out from under. Things like a floor jack, a lift, a...

That was 1992. I didn't even own a camera back then. I was just a 20 year old, dirt poor Mopar enthusiast, trying to make enough money to hopefully get his 70 Challenger SE put back together

If I knew 30 years ago that I'd feel like this, I might have done a few things differently. But I doubt it.

Yes, the famous slant five. All my friends remember it well. I'm not sure what kept the rest of the piston from breaking and allowing the wrist pin to slam the cylinder wall. Luck I guess.
