Which plugs are best for performance?

AJ - the spark jumps across the electrode to ground on the plug. The rest of the pathway is insulated to prevent grounding. Theoretically - the less resistance at the plug - the more energy there is to make that arc at the plug.

Which plugs are best for performance?

V=I*R I did check some champions of the same type that were old - used, Ohm readings were all high in the 15 to 20 Kohm range- that's what lead me to checking and comparing new ones. Less resistance and consistent are good things when it comes to electron flow. When i put in the ngk's the car...

Which plugs are best for performance?

I took a more scientific approach to this question a few years back. I compared the primary resistance in ohms of new 4 each AC, Champion, Autolite, and NGKs all same application for a 340. Resistance values will give you an idea of the consistency and spark energy going to the cylinders...

    Learning to hate Facebook

I joined Facebook a while back and stopped using when I started getting all kinds of BS notifications. I stopped using it almost immediately after joining it. Maybe it has utility, for some folks, but I don't need it.

    New Door Rubber too Stiff

I had the same problem with my car. I ended up finding some good used windlace seals and installed them on the drivers side- passenger side was fine with the new repop windlace, so its probably variation in the sheet metal causing the problem.

    1966 valiant convertable

Sorry for the late post here, I'll get out to the garage in the next day or so and take some pics. I ended up using some rockford fosgate speakers in those panels. I do not recall the actual model number of the speaker. I mocked the panels up in place and then measured the max depth that would...

    1966 valiant convertable

I did the same removal and install on my 66 dart vert. It is a 6X9 speaker. Sometime later they went to a 4X10 speaker for the dash, maybe 67 ? You will have to take out the radio, and heater controls in all likelyhood. I installed a dual voice coil speaker in its place. The retro radio outfits...

[SOLD] (5) 13 inch small pattern steel wheels

If no one wants these they will end up being scrapped - $50 for all 5 ? They are in pretty good shape, some minor rust along the edge of the rim where the hubcaps dug into the metal, otherwise really clean, a quick sanding and some black paint is all they need.

    been opened up awhile

I might suggest using quad 0 steel wool to polish the bores. Be sure to clean the cylinders meticulously afterwards. Either that or tear it down and clean it properly with new rings - at least. For the cost of a set of rings and a gasket set, that would be my path..my .02.

Disc Brakes on Early A's - What solution did you choose and why?

Disc set up and manual master cylinder from 73/76 A body. Add a proportioning valve to the rear line. I chose this because it all works together nicely and is as close to stock for the large bolt pattern as you can get. Replacement & wear parts are cheap and available everywhere, only obstacle...

    66 Barracuda Heads

It depends on what you intend to accomplish with the motor. If you want it stock then you need the same casting number heads. If you dont care - then 318 heads pre 1974 or so would work, but will lower your compression ratio, open chamber design. (The old 273 heads are closed chamber.) I would...

    5.9L Magnum recipe...

2 to 3 thousandths wear is not worth concering yourself about. You do not need to bore the block. The old service manuals talked about 10 thousandths as being the limit before over boring. Save your money and if you want, get new pistons in standard size that achieve your target compression...

Steering column slot acting like a heater

For what its worth - I installed a Delrin bushing that was made by a guy I found on the 62-65 c body mopar site. Its been a long time since I did that, not sure if it exists anymore as an available part. The bushing actually fits snug into the column bore and the shaft rides on the id, a snug...

    Putting a 426 Hemi in a 1966 Barracuda

A hemi in 65 cuda would sure be the wow factor - not to discourage you, but why not a stroker small block - 400 cu in or better ? Lots cheaper and no real fabbing needed. Just my .02. Take a look at the hp mopar action got out of a 360 late model roller motor...

1966 dart linkage for four barrel

Scottsman - the oem 4 bbl linkage parts are made from unobtainium. Having said that I did locate the correct parts to do my car, but it was a long time coming before I found them, after 5 + years of periodically searching - I would use the later model 4 bbl linkage and kickdown assembly from...

    Cooling problem SOLVED

Right. I was thinking that as well based on your comment. The times I tried to cool it by using the beater it threw lots of heAt. Obviously if I had done that last week it would have been a sign as well. I wAs thinking that maybe you can look through the bypass outlet at the impeller and turn...

    Cooling problem SOLVED

When I installed the original pump the impeller was tight on the shaft so it had to have loosened sometime after the first time I pulled it out and installed the anticavitation plate, because it was still tight then as well. Keep in mind this car probably only had 250 miles on it from the time...

    Cooling problem SOLVED

Glad you folks enjoyed the story - it sure took a long time to sort out. As mentioned above, I have NEVER seen an impeller do this on a mopar or any car for that matter (but I am not a professional mechanic either), but I've been farting around with cars for over 35 years. It never ceases to...

    Cooling problem SOLVED

I don't post very often, but thought some of you folks might find my story interesting. About 6 years or more ago I finished installing a 60 over warmed up 318 in my 66 dart vert. I had the core redone at a very competent local shop using a high efficiency 2 row core in the original radiator...

Intake manifold won't seal - How do I check it ?

I had a similar issue with the 360 I put in my 73 sport. Top of intake gasket crushed down nicely - bottom did not and leaked oil into the intake ports. Tried using sealants on new gaskets, thicker gaskets etc - no good. I knew I had machined the head for compression .030", but figured it was...
