I need some fuel sending unit experts please

I checked my other sending unit today. Grounded the sending unit hooked up the connector. Went through the full range of motion on the sender arm and could get occasional readings if I wiggled the sending unit arm. Gauge works but sporadically. Decided to go fill the tank completely ( I have...

I need some fuel sending unit experts please

I will try the working aftermarket sender that I replaced with this latest one. It’s out of the car so I can easily ground it and hook it up to the connection wire to see how it works. It reads 10 - 73 ohms as I run it through the full arm swing range.

I need some fuel sending unit experts please

Yes, there is gas in the tank. It was just below the level of the sending unit cavity. To be sure I added another 5 gals. Still showed empty. However, as I was driving off the ramps, I noticed some movement in tank level as the gas was sloshing. With probably 10 or so gals in the tank, when...

I need some fuel sending unit experts please

The pic shows red on the connector and black on the fuel sender terminal. Basically a straight through connection from gauge to sender with the multimeter in between reading voltage changes. I’m not sure if you could open the videos but I was trying to recreate the analog video with my digital...

Here are the readings I got on fuel with tank almost empty: Key off sending unit to ground - 62 ohms Key on sending unit connector to ground. Video of V and Ohms ( not sure if the video will work) https://share.icloud.com/photos/0c4FW4kB_xQh9jxUI7_B7_Tyg...

I need some fuel sending unit experts please

I think the connector is good. I cleaned it up and closed up the crimp to make firm contact. I think my oil pressure gauge may be shot. I was able to perform a conductivity test from the sending unit to the pin in back of the dash. I did find a bare spot where the insulation had worn away...

I need some fuel sending unit experts please

I took steel wool and got rid of the tarnish and insured good connectivity throughout. That’s why I soldered the pins because one was not making contact.

I need some fuel sending unit experts please

So as near as I can tell, my system is acting like all the components work but the sending unit is not grounded. I’m getting a pulsing current (5v) from IVR through the gauge into the connector on the sending unit. Except I checked the variable resistance on the brand new sending unit before...

I need some fuel sending unit experts please

The power probe shows power or ground. When attached to the sending unit connector it alternately flashes ground / power. Alternating but not consistent tempo. I don’t have an analog voltmeter. But the digital showed voltages alternating somewhere between 12 and zero. I can test again with a...

I need some fuel sending unit experts please

Thanks for the response. So that is the problem I’m having. The tests I’ve done on the fuel system show the fuel gauge, IVR, sending unit and ground are all good. Wherein does the problem lie? Is there a separate ground on the rally dash that could be missing? I did not test the oil pressure...

Just touched it briefly with someone watching the gauge to see if the gauge responded.

I need some fuel sending unit experts please

I’m not sure about the grounding to the gauge cluster but I assume it is, because instrument lights work and temp gauge works. There is a large ground wire on the steering column and I understood the dash grounds through the mounting hardware. The fuel sender is brand new from classic...

I need some fuel sending unit experts please

Help, I desperately need some help with my fuel gauge issues. I have read every thread that I could find on this topic in FABO and have a good working knowledge of the system but not a solution to my problem. The car has been in the process of being worked on for the past 15 years and was not...
