Suggestions on performance upgrades for 225

Nice to see another van with the slant, I've got the same stock setup on mine may also be looking for a little more power. Holds fine on highway but takes awhile to get there. Keep us posted on any upgrades.

Slant differences between cars and trucks?

All interesting info! My VIN indicates the van was built at the Warren heavy duty truck plant. So I would assume it's more likely that it should have more HD components. Thanks for the compliments! The pics were from a 1500 road trip over over christmas... had a blast!

Here some pics from of the van if that generates more interest. Been a a blast owning this thing. Not sure why the pics preview so grainy.

Slant differences between cars and trucks?

This might seem like a dumb question, but I guess I'm also just trying to see if doing little things like the 2bbl mod and larger exhaust pipe would get me the same gains as it would on a passenger car. Anything to give the little ol box a boost!

Slant differences between cars and trucks?

Mine is indeed on the drivers side. Will need to look into if the belt PN is different since I wanted to replace that soon.

Slant differences between cars and trucks?

I was wondering if there were any differences in the slant engines or transmissions used in passenger cars vs. the early compact trucks and vans. Would the trucks and vans have different heavy duty components, different cams, gear ratios, anything? I recently picked up an A100, /6 with 3sp...

Any info on a builder "David Hannigan" ?

I bought an A100 panel van with a /6 earlier in 2015 and haven't been on this forum in a while. On the valve cover there's a plaque: "Built by David Hannigan" (pic below) I suspect he is either in Colorado or Northern California from what I know of the van's history. Anyone know anything...

    [WANTED] WTB: Dodge A100

Obviously an A-body, but, I have been searching for one for a couple years now, and I figured the slant 6 guys might know a thing or two. Ideally it would have a /6 with 3 on the tree. Will consider one in good original condition or one that has been modestly restored. Please feel free to...

Steering box for a '64 Valiant?

I have done the play adjustment in the service manual but there is tons of play in the shaft. The seals are also completely blown and the box hardly retains oil, so I would need the reman at a minimum. But to your point, I can do a little searching to see if a member has one in good condition...

Steering box for a '64 Valiant?

Is there a strong opinion on the Firm Feel vs. a remanufactured unit? The reman's are obviously cheaper but is it junk? Thanks so much guys for the quick response.

Steering box for a '64 Valiant?

Hello FABO, it has been AWHILE for me on here! It's time for me to replace my steering gear box (manual). It has a ton of play and I've come to the point that I feel it's unsafe. Is there a favored, recommended replacement part for this? Are there other associated parts you can recommend...

Plugs are about 4 weeks old, filters are also up to date. Cap, rotor, points, wires, are all very clean, nothing suspect there. ...definitely will check anything else before touching the head...

    Vacuum reading help.

wjajr, thanks for the detailed replies - I do have an audible skip at the tail pipe, it's very erratic, and I also get an unstable needle with a vacuum gauge hooked up, it's usually within a couple inches as noted in the initial post. So with these symptoms do you think a sticking valve is still...

    Vacuum reading help.

So I was able to check and adjust the valve lash tonight. Nothing was too majorly out of wack, some were a little tight but feel good now. However, the rough idle and stalling problem remains. Here's my notes/comments/questions/thoughts: At idle, my exhaust is a little white. I've adjusted the...

    Vacuum reading help.

Were you ever able to figure out exactly what was the carb issue? I read some other threads regarding what you are describing so I had initially tore apart the carb, cleaned, and rebuilt. I've heard the BBD's were prone to worn throttle shaft bushings which caused vacuum leaks, but haven't...

    Vacuum reading help.

I'll definitely be checking the valve lash first - may be a few days away right now though. C130 Chief - The electronic ignition upgrade is not intended to be a fix to this problem, just something I had planned on doing at some point. And I'll be using a Mopar distributor from a later slant...

This seems very likely, and I need to check it. I haven't done a valve adjustment myself on this car so it'll be a learning experience. I've looked over the procedure on this forum a couple times so I'm going to check it when I get the chance... which may be a few days away or maybe even next week.

Certainly informative - thanks for sharing. It's behaving most like #3 but with higher vacuum, and somewhat like #5. Thinking I should probably remove the valve cover and take a look... might be running a little too lean. Hoping I don't need to replace the a valve or valve guides..

    Vacuum reading help.

I've been developed an erratic idling problem over the past few weeks, I'm hoping for some insight as I do not think it is a vacuum leak. I'll try to provide as much info as I can... This is a stock /6 with Carter 1BBL. I first assumed it was a leak, I tried multiple times to find a leak...
