    Thank you very much for the in depth instruction. everything was normal so i went ahead and replaced the voltage regulator. It was great for about 7 minutes and then the Amps shot up to 40+ every time I even touched the gas. Is it possible that my Ballast resistor is bad?

    I have a '72 Dart with 318 I recently replaced the alternator and after about 60 miles my battery (Optima red top) Blew. Is the Voltage Regulator contained in the alternator or is is separate?
