    360 pros & cons vs 318

If you can find a good 413, Snatch it just to have..Thats a damn good deal. They go for more than that every day.. I got my '84 W150 a few months ago, and it has a 360... Ive just driven it fairlly short distances, because it burns close to 1/4 a tank driving 40 miles... That's a downside to a...

    Some 273 questions..

Do you know anyone that may want one? I would love to sell it.. If the thing will bring $275, That would be great, because I didnt pay that much for the engine with the intake.. I found an Edelbrock SP 2P on craigslist, Paid 50 bucks for it and now its on the engine. I should be able to fire it...

    Sonic test results help!

I would just sleeve the 340... Then at least your car would have something cool in it. If you go to a car show, and someone comes by and you tell them it has a 340 in it, they'll think its cool. If you say it has a 360 in it.. Not as much

    Taking 1974 360 block .60 over

If it hasnt ever been bored, just do it .30 and the cylinder walls will be much stronger.

would you use a block with epoxy?

I fixed a 454 BBC that had a crack in the cylinder wall with JB weld, I drove it for 5 years and it was running fine when i sold it. Also fixed a frozen busted tractor block with it. I would trust it, If it were fixed with JB weld... I havent ever heard of that aqua tech stuff.

    Some 273 questions..

Well damnit. I get the lifters in it (Couldnt find them before, but they were sitting on the shelf in plain sight) put the pushrods in, rockers, ect. Then I noticed that the oil pump gear wasnt there, so i found one, then i went to put the intake on.... And it turns out its from a 64-65 273...

What makes you think i don't?

    Engine won't cool off!!

But the thing is, I dont want my engine sitting at 195 all the time, because then you get in traffic on a 110 degree day, and with the AC running, it runs the temp up a bit. Im not quite sure why you would want your engine to run that hot anyways. If the engine is a cool running engine, and it...

    Engine won't cool off!!

412 Stroker, in my experiences, if you put a 180, it will run about 200-220 and if you put a 160, it will run 180-200, and that makes a big difference when you are stuck in traffic.

    Engine won't cool off!!

If you take it out, and the engine runs cooler, that probably means you have a stuck thermostat. Get a 160F Fail Safe thermostat so that if it sticks again, it sticks open instead of close (Less than $10) and be done with it.

    '91 360 for my '73 Swinger?

He wants $300 for it, so that more than likely means he will take $200. For that cheap its worth the gamble. 72BluNblu, You also have to remember that the carb engines didnt go near as many miles as a fuel injected motor. Back in the day most engines were rebuilt at 100k.. I've seen non rebuilt...

    Some 273 questions..

I'm not going to rebuild it right now. I think what im going to do with it, once i get it together, I think im going to stick it in our 70 charger 340 car, so it will move under it's own power. The 340 is fresh rebuilt (Built in the 80's, never run), but stuck. It got some water in one cylinder...

    Some 273 questions..

Well, Since there are hydraulic lifters there, and they have been run, im going to say that its a hydraulic cam. The engine came in a 68 dart, and its a late 67 block, so they may have switched to the hydraulic by then. The original lifters are mixed up (People are idiots) and I have a brand new...

A/C delete issues! I need some help!

I dont get why you are taking it off... Sure, the compressor took 75 HP to turn, but it kept you cool. It was 111F where i live today.. Never would i think of taking it off. If youre taking it off just because its a r12 system, go buy some r12 and fix it.. It can be bought. And now i see.. I...

273 hp valve seals replaced before after video.

Ah, Ok. Also try putting some Marvel Mystery Oil in it. That along with the SeaFoam should have them loose in no time. 70 duster, No one was under it.. They wernt really needed. Jerry, SeaFoam has been around for quite a while, and has a very good reputation. It should get your 340 lubed up well.

Thanks for the info! So does it have to be a commando to originally have been a 4 barrel? It's a supposedly a 4 barrel motor. 273 hp valve seals replaced before after video.

SeaFoam is the best stuff out there for things like that. I've used it many, many times with great results... There is a big difference in the before/after video's. Good luck! Is that smoke or steam on the second video?

This thread makes me want to get my 273 running and put in something.. I don't know what to put it in, though! Maybe my dad will part with one of his Baracuda's (Or just for ***** and giggles I could put it in my '82 Porsche 928 that needs an engine, and make all the Porsche purists want me...
