    3-Point seatbelts into a '64 Dart hardtop?

Thank you all for your responses. I may still end up welding the reinforcement plate in, not sure yet. If I do I will try the technique chinze57 mentioned of welding small portions at a time and letting it cool. Kesteb - Thank you for the link to your installation. I'm not sure if I will be...

    3-Point seatbelts into a '64 Dart hardtop?

Hello everyone. I have a '64 Dart hardtop model and recently purchased a 3-point seatbelt kit from Seatbelts Plus. This kit is designed to have the should anchor mounted where the factory coat hanger hook is located above the rear quarter window. Seatbelts Plus has instructions, but they...

    After Market Carb

I'll admit that tuning them is a bit challenging, I'm still learning how to tune mine. I also didn't grow up tuning traditional carburetors like Carters and Holleys, so the Weber is what I've learned the most about. As far as air cleaner support goes, that just became a lot better. Webber came...

    After Market Carb

I'll stand corrected on this point, I could have sworn I read (from a reputable source) that the 2280 was a later factory part but for the life of me I can't find my source to back it up now. So I will defer to Dan's wealth of knowledge here. Regardless, if Dan says the 2280 is a good carb...

    Real deal or move along?

Well, part of my reasoning is right there in your question (not to come across rude): I could find a 8-3/4 that would drop right. It's possible yes, but in my neck of the country, 8-3/4 rears are rare and those from an A-body are rarer still. For instance, the only 8-3/4 that I'm currently...

    Real deal or move along?

So...yeah, I just confirmed with the seller that the gears in this axle are 2.71, in other words, not good. And new ring and pinion sets are $260, if they will even fit. That just put the price of this axle (before new bearings and brakes) around $500. For that money I think I'm now better off...

    Real deal or move along?

Guessing you contacted him? Admittedly that was one thing I either didn't ask or he didn't tell me during my initial inquiries. If it's 2.71 gears, that's less desirable, to me anyway. That would mean it has the smaller carrier if I recall my recent reading. Someone please correct me if I'm...

If you bought a BBD from there (can't speak for the Holleys) it is going to be a rebuilt unit. Carter went out of business years ago.

Dang, I've never heard of the 8.75 breaking, but essentially the gears got slammed when traction finally hit.

As an FYI Money Pit, the BBD 2-barrel was the early super-six factory stock carburetor, so you shouldn't have any trouble with it. It was a widely used carb that was also used on lower performance V8 models. So with that said I would endorse the BBD as well. However, I personally would not go...

    Real deal or move along?

Yeah, I'm not obsessed with 4-wheel disc. As you pointed out I'm not racing so rear drums will be plenty adequate and I'm not interested in doing any of this for the status. My motivations for this work is safety, reliability and serviceability, plus I enjoy tinkering. As for the fronts, I was...

    Real deal or move along?

I do plan to take good measurements of my axle to compare to any other axle I end up with. As far as searching the early A-body section, I somehow managed to completely overlook that sub-forum, that's my mistake. Using the Search Tool and targeting only that sub-forum produced at least a couple...

    Real deal or move along?

Yes, thank you for the reminder on the bolt pattern. I forgot to mention this in the original post but the mismatch front to back will be dealt with at a later date. I'm already looking into a CPP A-body front disc conversion kit. But that will be purchased at a far later date. I've read this...

    Real deal or move along?

I've seen that list posted here and over at big block molars, but the problem for me is that it starts (for a bodies) at 1966, and I'm trying to confirm information for 1964. Perhaps during the process of swapping my axle I could take measurements of my stock axle and contribute to the common...

No thanks, I'd rather be moving towards a better axle.

If you are willing to take the time to tune it, the Weber 38/38 synchronus 2-barrel would also be a good choice. You need a 2 plate adapter to put it on the super six intake. I know because I have a Weber 32/36 on my Slant with the same Super Six intake.

You sir are awesome, I have not seen that chart anywhere online. Thank you for sharing. So if I'm understanding that correctly, the 8-1/4 from Craigslist is indeed bolt-on. Looks like I will have to get the driveshaft shortened, but I was going to have to have that modified no matter what axle...

Hello everyone, I too am one of the many looking for an upgrade from my stock 7-1/4". Here is my setup. 1964 Dodge Dart GT with the 225 Slant 6 and A904 trans. I'm keeping both the engine and the trans but I want something a bit tougher at the rear. I'm not looking to drag or launch the car...

You want some pics? Here ya go! Take a look at that 225 Slant 6! The black box mounted on the driver's fender is a modular relay box I pulled from a Nissan and now houses the fuel pump relays and logic circuit. My Weber 32/36, bought used for $50, came from a BMW, rebuilt and...
