    Performance oriented brake pad options

S'cuder Thanks for the info, I've added up top. That also really great info I didn't know that Willwood had a bolt on caliper to a KH system! mobileparts Thanks for the note, cleaned up now.

Porterfeild emailed me back and said they make pads for the D84, and will get there website updated.

    Performance oriented brake pad options

Ok, so the new FMSI catalogs dont have any data on stuff that old, and older catalogs are not easy to find online. But in piecing together some data from others Raybestos Bendix, etc catalogs it looks like the following are the 3 standard ID's we need to worry about. D11 is the KH units...

    Performance oriented brake pad options

Thanks all. I'll try and digest some of it and update the chart. I had never heard of the FMSI ID system for brake parts before, and the related D11 pad type for the KH 4 piston units. Looking around I see Pegasus (and Summit) offers a few options for the D11 pad, and if I put the PN from them...

    Performance oriented brake pad options

HA! I wish I knew or could distill down what the marketing material says into something succinct that I could believe in, or trust would steer someone else right, given that I think I'll let others explore it. I added the other types of factory calipers and what I think is an interesting note...

    Performance oriented brake pad options

Thanks, while it would be great to have a list off all pads etc, I wanted to keep it to the stuff you would not find on an online reseller like rock auto for example. I'm happy to expand the list, and add the other two caliper types, and I'm happy to add part numbers of other compounds into one...

    Performance oriented brake pad options

I spent far to much time over the last few days looking for performance brake pad options. I did not see any other threads about this specific topic. I'm happy to add / edit this as I get more info or people share. In this case I'm defining performance as track rated, or aggressive friction for...

[FOR SALE] Electric power steering conversion full setup

Hi, I had put a Volvo electric power steering pump on my 67 barracuda. I've decided to go a different direction, as the setup while fine for around town driving, does not give sufficient flow for auto-crossing. I figure I'm not going to use it, maybe someone else wants it? I'm selling the pump...

Electric Power Steering Pump - 1967 Barracuda

That's not a half bad idea, but I don't think there is enough room to easily fit it all in there. I agree, the racks take a less flow (and use more pressure typically) from some basic research. The hydraulic assist circuit area is also much smaller on the all the racks I've seen so it would take...

Electric Power Steering Pump - 1967 Barracuda

Ok, doing a little more research, in the years since I did this lots of people have published the CAN bus info to run the pump, so that's great, but now we have to figure out how much the Volvo pump will flow. I know it's supposed to be running 70 or 80% in limp mode, and that limp mode measures...

Electric Power Steering Pump - 1967 Barracuda

Yep, that I can do. But unless I can find proof that the pump can flow at least 2 GPM, it won't mater. If anybody has some idea where to look for that (and the documented CAN messages for the pump speed) I'm all ears! I can knock out a little board and firmware to run it all. In the cars that I...

Electric Power Steering Pump - 1967 Barracuda

Just for anyone who runs across this. The Volvo pump I'm using is a problem, not enough flow. I hooked a flow meter up to it and it runs just under 1 GPM in it's limp mode, so it's just fine for around town driving, but no good for racing / autocrossing. It looks like you need at least 2 to 2.5...

Power steering overrun - lack of flow or worn box?

I've had an electric power steering pump on the car for about 3 years, info about it here. It has been just fine for around town driving and parking lot work. If you are turning the wheel fast, it seems to be easy to overrun the pump and lose assist. I took the car to an autocross last weekend...

Electric Power Steering Pump - 1967 Barracuda

All, as a followup about the usage, and to possibly discuses with anyone else who has done this (Tsully, looking at you) I'd like to discuses any impression poeple have of this setup on the factory steering box. (Maybe I should make a new post, but I'll start here) I've had the setup on there...

    Serpentine set up question

I'm using the Holly/Mr Gasket parts, here. They will clear the 136 amp alternator with a metal back and a side post. I posted some more about it here.

Confused what to do with a 5.9L serpentine setup

Here are two links that may work for you: Amazon and Rock auto. The RAM 1500 used to have one with the metal back in RA but now just has the plastic back, but it does show up in the the RAM 2500. And it also seems to be more common in the Diesel models.

Confused what to do with a 5.9L serpentine setup

As a final follow up, iIt looks like the 2002 136 Amp alternator with a top post and a metal back does work! No valve cover modifications needed. It looks like from the images others have shared, they are using the 75/90 amp unit with a slight dimple on the top of the valve cover.

Confused what to do with a 5.9L serpentine setup

As a follow up: No, the Bosch style 137 amp alt with a plastic rear cover has about 1/2" of depth interference with the large valve covers. The metal rear cap was much closer to clearing but the post was very much in the way, so a metal rear cap with a side post may work.

Confused what to do with a 5.9L serpentine setup

Thanks for the info. Here is what my setup currently looks like with the larger valve covers (Mr Gasket). Alternator top bolt is in, but lower alternator mount is up about 3/4 from where it needs to be to get a bolt into it.

    Serpentine set up question

Hi All, guess what! I think I may have found a solution to the alternator issue that does not require modifying the valve covers! (I hope, not proven yet). It looks like the 2002 alternator option for the trucks had a top post! And the 2001 and 2002 had an offset side post that may clear...

Confused what to do with a 5.9L serpentine setup

Thanks, that's very thoughtful. I wont be running A/C or a P/S pump, so have to figure out how to route it all. I did an electric P/S pump, which worked out ok to clean up the engine bay. This maybe useful for someone someday. My damper required a custom offset crank pulley, it was going to be...

Confused what to do with a 5.9L serpentine setup

Ok, here is some more interesting info.... rockauto pictures and data to the rescue! There are at least two case sizes, and 125 vs 137mm, and they have some units on the later model years that have a side post for the power that should in theory fix the valve cover issue!

    Serpentine set up question

@Bobzilla Thanks a lot for the info on the bracket, and taking the time to put up a few pictures. The fabricated valve covers also hit my M1 intake on the passenger side (see image next to the cyl 2 mark). I see Hugues notes on their website that the fabricated ones also hit on there air-gap...

    Serpentine set up question

@dusted, or anyone else. Do you happen to know if the non-A/C bracket moves the alternator clockwise away from the valve covers, or is it in the same position as the A/C bracket. Tying to figure out how to have clearance for larger valve covers here. Thanks.

Confused what to do with a 5.9L serpentine setup

I'm dealing with the same issues. I have the same valve covers and I'm about to try and finish up my accessories. I cut the bracket factory AC / alt bracket up a bit today to clear the water neck, and realized I was going to have an alternator problem. I had purchased the larger alternator, are...

Electric Power Steering Pump - 1967 Barracuda

I don't know off hand, but I was running a 60 amp alternator with it and was still at > 14 V with the electric fans on. I did not try with the headlights on. I think I'll be in a position to check with a clamp meter in a few weeks and I'll post the current.

Electric Power Steering Pump - 1967 Barracuda

So whats with the TRW ones? Who / what are they, I see reference to them as an aftermarket suppler, so they have there own version of the pump they sell as a standalone also? Looks like all these pump configurations have a simaler shape / guts I bet, but the fittings and mounting are all a...
