    Wanting to suggest a paint & Body section be added to the forum.

    You don't want it shiny. You can clearcoat over #800. I wouldn't go any finer than #1000. It needs a little "tooth" for adhesion. Relax, take your time. Stop and look at the paint as you are applying it. Let the fog clear a little if you are have poor ventilation.

    Also, make SURE the tapered mating surfaces are dry as a bone. Sometimes you can get the taper to SEAT with a quick rap of a hammer and get the nut to tighten up without any other mechanical stimulation. Of course the threads have to be in good shape for any of this to work.

    I’ll be installing my first set of headers on a small block mopar this summer, I hope. Everybody says to use Remflex gaskets so that is what I’m going to try. My buddy says they sound like a sex toy. LOL
