If it runs better when you restrict air flow, either with the choke or with your hand, then either the mains are plugged and fuel flow is restricted, or it’s jetted way too lean.

What are the spring presssures that Speedmaster published with those heads?

Drivers side of the block just above the freeze plugs. It will be stamped 318 or 360 just like an LA engine. The 10 bolt valve covers, vertical intake bolts, and beer barrel intake are all telltale magnum signs.

Every engine has a cam (at least in the realm of stuff we’re interested in) and upgrading a cam during an engine rebuild is common. The lunati “cam kit” he ordered and installed is a cam and lifter set (you don’t reuse lifters on new cams so they sell em as kits) and is a well know street grind...

Nice engine build, the cam is a nice step up from stock and you’ll like it for the muscle car sound. And 385hp is no joke in an Abody. It’s definitely enough to get you in trouble.

One of the pics looks like there is peppering on the porcelain. Might just be the pic. What fuel do you run? Definitely cut the shell off a plug and look at the fuel ring. Should be about .100-.110 up from the base. And your timing looks 2-3 degrees soft for what I would consider optimal. You...

Been to two NPK events at Tucson dragway. There are very little if any restrictions there. We were in the pits till very late (early morning) hangin out with Jeff Lutz and the Bird brothers. And were free to walk around basically anywhere for the whole event.
