    side dipstick on 5.7

    i am using a rear sump oil pan on my 5.7 but the dipstick on the side will not work because the plate between the pan and the block dosent have a hole for the side dipstick since i have already assembled the engine is there a way to cut that hole without removing the pan?

    you are absolutely correct i mistakenly said i have a mass airflow sensor when i actually have a map sensor and i did email chris about the problems and he suggested i disconnect the battery to reset the computer and see if it helps the problem. also the white smoke disappeared when it warmed up...

    laptop scan program info?

    can anyone suggest a laptop scan program for use on a genIII hemi swap. im looking for something that i can use to read codes and monitor systems without all the other junk that comes with the universal programs.

    well i have listened around all the manifold and vacuum and the injectors and dont hear any odd noises and i checked all the fuses and they are ok what confuses me is when this happens if i remove and replace both o2 sensors the backfire stops and the engine idles smoothly but it has happened...

    well you got me there im not sure about heaters in the o2's i did not know there were heaters for those the harness is from hotwire so i assume they may be there somewhere i checked fuses and do see any bad ones in the fuse block i think the code was po139 bank one sensor 2 or something like...

    yes i do have a mass airflow sensor and the o2 sensors are located just in the front end of the header collectors

    i have a fuel pressure gauge at the fuel rail and it is reading between 57 and 58psi when engine is running and i have read that that is the proper pressure for a hemi

    no i am not running cats i am thinking about changing to an aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure gauge and see what i can do with that i dont know how to lean it out i have never done any tuning on the ecm it was reflashed by chris at hotwire when i did the initial install

    brian6pac i thought that might be the issue but i dont find any fuel in the vacuum hose i am using the corvette regulator and it is not adjustable i changed both o2 sensors and it seemed to solve the problem but it has happened once before so i am thinking you are correct do yo have any idea...

    Riddler i have been looking at the two o2 sensors i took out of the car and the one that was failing has just a small amount of blackening in one area around one of the inlet holes the other one is about the same. if i understand afr correctly if the motor was running too rich the blackening...

    Where to get a PCM flashed?

    i would love to find a handheld ipad or something similiar and the programming to let me see what my engine is doing i;ve seen people using them on tv shows but dont know much about them . i used hotwire and chris the owner has been very helpful

    AJ i have thought about that same issue im not sure what happened it was running fine and just suddenly started missing and small exhaust backfires until i got it home about five miles or so. im thinking it may be too rich but im not familiar enough with the diablo system to know how to lean it...

    GOOD NEWS replaced the o2sensors and i came back to life thanks riddler and dart for all the help have a great day guys

    no Dart it starts easily and the backfire is in the exhaust; Riddler i just replace both o2 sensors and im replacing all the plugs then i can try it and see if that solves the issue thanks for all the help
