Shimming hydraulic slave cylinder on A833- does this look ok to you?

I’ve got the measurements down but the way the shims press against the sleeve on the input shaft just doesn’t look quite right to me. Thanks for any input.

Stuck mating small block back up to A833. Suggestions?

Thanks to all for the help. It turns out that the hydraulic throwout bearing was not fully retracted. As a life long ADHD sufferer (and generally successful manager thereof), it’s pretty typical for me to overlook such an obvious checklist item. All of the information you guys provided helped...

Passon Performance 4spd conversion with hydraulic clutch- Any guess about which hydraulic fluid?

I bought this setup back in 2022 and I never received the correct BOM for what I bought (it showed the parts listing and prices for the mechanical clutch parts) despite numerous calls and emails requesting the document with the correct parts. Now I need to refill/bleed the hydraulics and I'm...

Stuck mating small block back up to A833. Suggestions?

I used Dorman part number 14503. It was my first time doing this procedure so it’s possible it still ended up misaligned. I cleared my schedule tomorrow to put these suggestions to use. Thanks to all.

Stuck mating small block back up to A833. Suggestions?

lol….I lived with an A904 for so damn long that I got my numbers mixed. Yes it’s an A833 4spd. Fortunately, I was able to update the thread title.

Stuck mating small block back up to A833. Suggestions?

I’m stuck while reinstalling a Magnum crate motor that was previously hooked up to this exact transmission. I just can’t get this to go any farther and I could use a suggestion if you can spare one. First, there are loose bolts in place just for guidance. I know enough to not pull it...

    modern muscle

The definitions are fun to debate. Guys, keep in mind that it’s probably time to open the category and allow more cars to be called muscle cars. All of our cars are slow now. Just about any basic electric car would smoke any stock classic muscle car. The higher end EVs smoke every short of...

    modern muscle

IMO, you can't go wrong with a modern Challenger 392, Camaro SS, or Mustang 5.0. They're each spectacular in their own way. In my opinion: Challenger looks the best, has the best sounding motor (6.4L/392) Camaro drives the best- probably the quickest in the real world, handles awesome. Mustang...

    17" versus 14" tires

The conventional wisdom about more tire choices on 17s may not be quite what it sounds. Yes. there are modern/sticky tires available in 17" but if you're looking for a 17" performance/non drag tire that is taller than 25" (as most of us are) you have your work cut out for you. At least that...

Can small block oil pump be replaced without pulling the engine?

I have a Magnum-based stroker and I will be replacing the oil pump in the coming weeks. I have a engine hoist on hand and two engine swaps for this car under my belt but none since the 4spd conversion (not sure if this is better or worse)... but frankly, I'm just trying to figure out if I can...

The dreaded fiberglass hood sprung spring rattle

Coming back around to this issue...now that another driving season (for us northerners) comes to a close, I am writing up my list of things that have to be done before next spring! Speaking of spring (har har) I came to the conclusion last year that I am going to have to pull the...

Got a Couple of Beauties from Target - 73 Duster & B-Body AWB

I love this Duster mold. Previously, I was only aware of the Sox and Martin version (which I bought at significant expense a few years back). Thanks for sharing this...I need both of these. :D

Magnum oil filter block plate - source?

This is a good call. The mating surface looked clean from what I could see from beneath/behind the front wheel with a spot light.

Magnum oil filter block plate - source?

I picked up some permatex black gasket sealer, coated the gasket and gave it another go. It’s still absolutely pissing oil. I noticed that the plate may be damaged…not only is the mating surface a bit wavy, it appears to be lopsided. Does this look wrong?

Magnum oil filter block plate - source?

I can’t quite see the casting info with the headers on. I wish I took a picture before I put it in the car. If necessary, I’ll unbolt the driver’s side and take a look. I do know that the block is a Magnum 5.9.

Magnum oil filter block plate - source?

Thanks to all for the input! I was able to obtain one…I installed it carefully with no difficulty, fired up the engine, saw no oil pressure issues, backed out of the garage, drove a few hundred feet down the road and noticed that I was leaving a STREAM of oil behind!!! Obviously, I headed...

Is there a model for either of these tire sizes that you have in mind? Both sizes seem pretty unusual. I realize that Tire Rack doesn't have everything but I was curious and took a look 305/45/17 I only see one tire, NITTO NT555RII but it looks like a good one. 100 tread wear...can you get...

They look good to me…but it also looks like the OD on those 315s is only 25.7” (give or take). The performance tires seem to max out at this diameter which is too short for most of us. This is the main reason I gave up on my 17s. What’s your final drive ratio?

I painted the Rota RKRs. The original charcoal finish was what I wanted six years ago but after looking at them for so long, it was time to change them up. No regrets so far. Before anyone asks, the rears are 15x8 0 offset and the fronts are custom and not available off the shelf.

what dia t bars should I buy? & what shocks should I get?

Go do a full coil spring conversion. KIDDING!! This is my setup exactly...I have to report that it rides hard and still doesn't feel that great. If I had to do it over again, I might go for a smaller torsion bar.

What's the effect of not installing torsion bar grease boots?

When I was replacing my suspension components 5-6 years back, I was in the middle of urgently trying to get the car back on the road partially out of frustration/impatience and partially because I needed to be able to move the car to access the garage. This kind of desperation is usually what...

Torsion bars for better handling; your experience?

This is why God made hammers. :D Don't be shy and give them a whack for clearance. Definitely touch them up with some high temp paint incase the header's coating cracked in that spot. Evidently, unless you're really crushing the tube, performance isn't measurably affected by dings and dents...

    Wheel/Tire help

I hope they work out for you. Please keep us posted. It appears that they are way out of production so be careful. As you probably know, tires do weaken/fail with age. They could be fine but generally speaking, tires are done at the ~10 year mark regardless of wear. Just a rule of thumb...
