Update on this I never did figure it out. Instead I found a great deal on a 4 speed duster so got a fly wheel from brewers. The motor is now in the duster with the 4 speed. The dart now has the 318 with the 904.

Yes you did, and another guy has mentioned it. I forgot to check before I put the tranny back on so I was going to take it off again and check it. I am avoiding taking it back out of the car sense I just put all brand new fluids in it. That can get spendy.

Thank you that is good to hear. Thank you when you took off your dust cover did anything hit after that? I notice my crank pulley is little wobble to it. Would that affect anything. I got another guy asking me to check my crank play he thinks it could be my bearing for the crank.

Oh I see. Yes I made sure that lined up with the holes on the flex plate. It’s open and you can access it.

I put everything back together and when tightening the bolts the converter move forward looks like the same spot. Installed trans to engine then flex last. Made sure everything was on corrected and the right sequence.

I dont really know what that is.

The bolts hitting something the damage from the dust cover states that.

If this should work what steps should I take now that I have it out just reinstall it?

I have heard people using the 318 flex plate and throwing weights on the converter.

I still have the other flex plate from the 318

tranny is off but still under I got it stuck on the Ebrake cable and im just going to leave it but now it looks like its not hitting anything did not see any rub marks anywhere on the block

just read this post. There were no gap between the TC and FP. Should I push the TC back and then bolt it up?

I just took the flex plate off the TC moved less the a 1/4 inch back I am going to turn the flex plate around to see what room I have.

I will give that a go. If the flex plate is fixed to its spot would it just move the converter forward or with the converter stay further back when pushed in all the way.

yes but when installing the converter went in as far as it would go. Then i bolted the torque plate on and could have shifted it forward a little. Having the experience would help a lot.

No I believe it was strictly auto but over years who can really tell.

yes same ones, they have a imprinted N on each bolt.

The Transmission says A904-LA on it.

Yes, there are still all tight. One of the bolts did not rub and the three others did rub si it must be wobbling some how.

any idea of what converter to buy? That will work with the torque plate and 904-la tranny?

yes it does sit forward more then it did with the 318.

I cant get the pics imported on my mac yet operater error problems haha. It did not bolt up directly one bolt I had to drill a spot on the flexplate. 3 bolts direct fit 1 bolt was off by less then a quarter inch.
